Trying for the first time to deploy a Para Company and I have both units and C-130s to deploy which confuses me. I ASSUME the troops are on the transports, both being there to deploy (and I don't see a way to find out who is on which aircraft) has me stuck. Any advise would be appreciated.

During deployment phase, don't forget to put your paratroopers inside the transport planes. Then either set them to land at a specific turn (in the deployment screen press B), or wait till you in the battle to do so, but be advised in the latter case they will take several turns to perform the air drop, 4 or something.

You have "units" and "C130s" which are also units, treated just like any other APC or barge transport. So use the "L" key dialogue as usual to load them in the deployment phase before the air transports get automatically stripped off the map. If you forget to load, then you will have empty transports, which are not a great deal of use!.
Just like loading on APCs, if the grunts are standing around on the ground, then they are not loaded in the carrier.
Select any transport plane and hit the space bar or right-click it to see what you have loaded onto each as usual for a transport unit. It's shown at the bottom of the unit status page as a list.
Plot the drop before the end of the deploy turn as a pre-game bombardment or there will be a very long (unrealistically short for an ad-hoc jump! :)) 12 or so moves delay. Transports have their own bombardment page, after spotter planes. (Use the switch to button). Also, remember to set your air entry and exit paths before plotting any air bombardment event.
Cheers
