What are your favorite pretender names and titles?
Here's two that I like.
Tubal-Cain, Maker of Weapons: King of Nature, King of Might, King of Kings, the Teacher of Philosophy.
Balor, the Face in the Rock: King of Earthquakes, King of the Crafts, King of Plants and Trees

I always mix up my names with Chinese sayings that I'd understand. This way I can id my pretenders when I need to without giving the build away to people I'm playing against.

Sphincto the Sphinx, naturally.

"The Man Behind the Screen" for that flaming head. He always reminds me of the Wizard of Oz.
And that guy being carried by bearers I like to call "Iam Iam Iam Aghod" (I am, I am, I am a God!)
I like to name my Pangaea Lord of the Wild god "Natural Disaster".
And my Pangaea Carrion Dragon god "Khom Poast" (compost)
When I use the Manticore I like to name it "/\@/\"

I got a
Hecata, Lady of Witchcraft as LA Ulm
which I found pretty cool, because Hecata is the Queen of Witches in real life mythology.

I usually try to come up with some thematic name based on his magic for my pretender, and then search the net for dictionaries to translate it (it doesn't come perfect of course, but it's the sound that counts :D ) into a language close to the origins of the nation I play. :)
About the titles, I like everything except the various King/Lord/Lady of Nature/Death/Fire/Turmoil and the like, really too obvious.

I have a particular Virtue that I like with MA Caelum, who happens to sometimes (rarely! :() get the title "Mistress of the Seraphim". I don't know why but I think that is amazingly cool.
Also, goofing around with EA Mictlan, I decided to try the giant assassin pretender (Lord of the Shadows? something....), and see if I could make a D9/B8 bless viable. :p What I ended up with, as random name, was -
Stark, The Leeching Darkness, The Harvester, Lord of This World, Enemy of Infants.
That is just so cool.

Hey, you gotta have humor in this game.
I don't actually remember a cyclops named Barry though. But, I have played a lot of games. And I often use a cyclops.
Oh wait, it's coming back to me. What was that game?

uh, Velusion's game - Figment IIRC. Something about a cyclops named Barry just cracked me up

My Manticore pretender was Devourer of Apples in one game.

Yes, but wasn't that because Gandalf had a pretender named Apples? So, intimidating to *someone*.

Fountain of Beer seemed very interesting to me.
How about favorite pretenders? I think I take the oracle at least half the games.

I think it was a blitz game on the IRC channel, and I don't think Gandalf played in it. It's been quite some time and I can't remember the details, so I'm not sure where I got the inspiration for that.
Heh, I just remembered that when I played few of those blitz games, I consumed ridiculous amounts of tea (with extra sugar) to be able to play with the people 10 timezones away. I think it was all the extra sugar that made me come up with the silly names.
Besides Devourer of Apples the Manticore and Lord of the Seven Teas the Heavenly General, I had a R'lyeh pretender with checkboxes and triangles in its name... I got them by writing ÿ, û, õ, ì and other accented vocals. Sometimes I got nothing, sometimes symbols like the up/down adjustment keys used in tax and PD screens.

"How do you like them apples?"
Come on, somebody had to do it...

I got a Wyrm for R'lyeh once who got the title 'The Hunger without Thought' I liked it.
And Ich, I didn't mean to thank you for the previous post, but did so accidentally. You may consider it my thanks for some previous insightful post you made I forgot to thank. ;)

There is an option to remove a Thanks from a thanked post, too, but I'm bursting with confidence now, so that wouldn't be nice.
