close and cast this command

it'd be nice if there was a command for mages to get close enough to cast a spell "X" then cast it.
it'd make it alot easier to script the shorter range spells, while accomodating for varying enemy army placements.

I use attack, then cast. If you place the mage far enough back you can guess at where he will end up.

The problem is that the target they pick and the spell they use is based on range. If you tell them to close then use it, what do they target? Unless you mean advance and use the spell as soon as is possible, in which case they might well close in then cast the short range aoe spell on one random guy who ran out ahead (the archer decoy).

Doesnt some of the equipment help? The footwear which moves people around the battlefield instantly and randomly tends to do damage to mages and backside commanders. And spells which do the same.
