View Full Version : I have good news and bad news

Ive just received some news that my "day job" of care provider for my handicapped son may soon double into other family members. That and money problems have me feeling guilty about my time online. Shrapnel is one of the last places that Ive cut my time down on but I feel I must do it here also.

The services offered on my server will likely continue (most of its automated anyway). And I am reachable by email or even PMing me here if anything goes wrong. However I will be dropping my moderator responsibilities on all of the forums Im mod on, and (trying) not to be around as much. I will not be manning the chat room for instance and it might take a day for me to respond to PMs. Im not going to be able to post to each forum I moderate (8) and definetly not to all of those I frequent so if you see this please feel free to pass the info on if asked.

I hope you all understand and hopefully this will be temporary.

Oh and as far as the good/bad news? I guess this is both depending on who is reading it. :)

Take care of your family GP.
I take it as good news that we can still reach you, just sorry to hear that life is throwing you and yours another curve.
-Best wishes!

eh, sorry my fault for pointing out the thread. I have no doubt that Gandalf's son's condition is real, and am sorry that there may be further health issues in his family, and wish him the best of luck in all that.

In the grand scheme of things, some stupid alts and trolling is fairly insignificant, even if the record should have been cleared up about it, and an honest clearing of the air would likely have solved everything.

Sorry as well that lch was de-modded due to all of this. Not really justifiably, but it's too late now.

Again, best of luck with your family there, Gandalf.

Well his condition has been documented on the net for 30 years. :)
And my other situation has been made aware to my friends at Shrapnel for longer than that IRC thing was going on.

Yeah that would be pretty dumb. My alts were cleaned up long ago with everyone elses. That was a dead issue with Shrapnel long long ago.

Sorry as well that lch was de-modded due to all of this. Not really justifiably, but it's too late now.
Ahh sorry. I didnt know that. It might have made a difference in my decision to drop mine. But I dont think it will leave the forums short. Actually the Dom3 forums are better off then some of the others I was doing.

I doubt lch was particularly over this. Shrapnel tends to be more than fair and generous in their dealings.

Again, best of luck with your family there, Gandalf.
Thank you. And good luck to you in the future also.

You know, I really didn't want to reply to this thread at all, but...

... you should finally get over yourself and have the courage to admit to yourself that this is the effect of things that you started instead of looking for scapegoats. I didn't kick this off, I am not responsible for this mess. I was the one who repeatedly got baited into violating forum rules, which I didn't, but still suffered a rebuff by supposed violation of unwritten guidelines and double standards. I don't need drama, though, and won't raise a stink because of some status - their loss, not mine.

I hope you'll really finally stop looking for imaginary phantom enemies and leave those strange black, white and differently colored hats in the drawer and stop with silly games on the cost of others. That should give you a lot of time for other activities that don't poison this community.

Its strange when me being the target of things is such a horrible deplorable act. Im sorry if it caused you problems. You should take it out on those who egged you on.

Heh. You are a character, and no mistake.

Still, your son has my sympathies, and you by extension.

Okay, Gentlemen, that's it. Take this spat back to IRC where it started and should have remained.
