View Full Version : Simple question

Actually I have 2 simple questions that I have not been able to find the answer too.
1. Please bare with me as I have been trying to figure out how to ask this and make sense.
I have a POD but I have taken Dom 9...I also have a Horror Helment. SO, I have FEAR 15 (example) do I also have AWE?
OR, does it turn to and add to fear.
What I am trying to understand is...will my AWE cancel your Awe (if everything is equal) and my Fear stay intact?
Will your AWE and my AWE work independently and THEN my fear come into play.
OR, does it just ADD to fear delete my AWE and the regular rolls decide.
2. I KNOW this is easy but I just can't seem to find the answer.
IF I have a Pretender with different magic paths and say all the paths are 3 only (example), when I add a booster will I get the bonus on blessings (say Nature 3..add Thistle mace do I get 5% regen on my bless).
Thanks for taking the time to help..I have been wondering about this for a long time.

Awe and Fear are unrelated. you get Awe from Dom 9/10. you get Fear because your a PoD (you also get it from Death magic).
Fear synergizes with Awe because it lowers moral. Otherwise they don't interact.
2. Nope. blessings only come from starting paths.
Coincidentally, so does gaining Awe from Dom str. If you start at Dom8, build 4 temples and get to Dom9, you still don't get Awe. You have to have base Dom9/10
Now I have a question. If I already have Fear and put on a Horror Helmet, do I get a bonus?

1) They stack. In fact, Awe + Fear is a very good combo, so I hear. ;)
2) Any effects to a Pretender's paths after creation will not affect your Bless.
Omniziron: Yes. The Fear value goes up by 5.

1- Dom 9 always gives Awe +0, therefore your PoD has both Fear +15 and Awe, a very potent combination. I'm not sure how the mechanics work in a match against something else with Awe.
2- No, but on the flipside you don't lose your blessing either if your god dies and his magic paths are reduced.

Yes, Horror Helment DOES raise your fear by 5 I believe

All fear items raise fear by +5. For units with no fear, they grant fear(0), because fear starts from -5, it just doesn't have any effect before it reaches fear(0). In Dom2 fear less than 0 was lesser fear. Death magic raises fear by +1 per level, so D5 means automatic fear(0) if there is no native fear.

I'm pretty sure the horror helmet raises fear by 10, doesn't it?

I'm not sure how the mechanics work in a match against something else with Awe.The big advantage of fear+awe is that fear has a chance to lowers the morale of people around you, making your Awe more effective.
The combination becomes especially pronounced when facing off with other hard to kill Thugs/SCs or when you have many units with fear, like Demon Knights.

All fear items raise fear by +5.
... except for The Jade Mask and the Crown of Ptah, which raise it by 10, and The Gift of Kurgi, which raises it by 30, that is. ;)

Quiet, you. I said fear items, not fear artifacts... ;)

I gave a Tart Gift of Kurgi, the big ankle cutting scythe thingy, and a Horror Helm. He didn't get to kill very much, despite being a berserk flyer with an AoE weapon.
