Ok if a Flaming weapons bless counts as a Magic weapon but only the Fire damage portion of the attack counts as magic then if a unit was Ethereal And also had 100% Fire resist would the Flaming weapons actually hit the unit all the time or would the Ethereal portion work so that he was only hit 25% of the time since the FR would presumably counter the Flaming weapons???

I'm pretty sure second part is correct. Only fire damage is magic, bless doesn't actually make initial weapon damage type magic.

Oh, I would have said the opposite. Needs a test I guess!

I would guess with you llama - when the unit is blessed, it says magic weapons.

Additionally, jag warriors tear through ethereal faster than I think can be explained merely by only the fire portion being magical.

Easy to test conclusively, does it pop mistform under the same conditions?

When I once played (and in the end won) as Mictlan with W9D9 and was facing a high-defense\MR Vampire Queen under mistform, my jags never managed to dispel it while they could hit that 1HP from time to time. I understood it so that as she resisted that 2 AN+MR damage, their weapon stopped being magic.

yes, ano is correct, I believe.

so 100% FR will negate the magicality of the weapon, and ethereality will operate. However, chrisp's observation is also the case, IME, ie. that w/ operative flaming weapons the regular attack also is fully effective against ethereal targets.

I wouldn't think that 75% FR would stop the regular attack being efficacious against ethereality, but I am not sure.

Flaming Weapons only add the Fire secondary effect. It does NOT make the base weapon magic.

Test results of F10 blessed jaguar warriors against fog-warriored Abyssian infantry.

Note that this is fundamentally different than Flaming Arrows. Flaming missiles are magic AND have the Fire secondary effect.

Ah this makes sense really because Flaming Arrows actually switches the weapon on the unit, which is why Flaming arrows does not work with some ranged weapons because they do not have an enchanted counterpart.
