View Full Version : MP game autobuild?

In one of my MP games everytime I open a new turn my capitol already has builds and (most annoyingly) a new tax rate set.

The builds aren't so bad because it's nominally what I'm building anyway, but this shouldn't be happening anyway right?

The change of tax rate (to 150) is highly annoying, as I have missed it from time to time, and thus suffer the unrest and lower income to reduce that unrest.

Is there some setting or is this some kind of bug?

This really sounds like there are two people playing the same nation in the MP game.

Or it's The Three Faces of Licker! You haven't been messing around in the Void Gate, have you?

Indeed it does, but this is in the turn from llamaserver.

I'm also playing Tir na n'Og, so no crazies in my lineup ;)

Well other than a suicidal Shide Lord who can't seem to get himself killed no matter what odds he faces...

Notably, Llamaserver doesn't verify the incoming e-mail address, so anybody can send turns in for you.

Someone sending in a turn for me would not generate a turn from llama with orders already issued would it?

Not that anyone should be sending in turns for me. I did have a sub at one point, but had him for 3 games, and only one is showing weird behavior.

When I open the turn, it is a fresh turn, there is no 'continue where I left option'.

I can assue you I most definitely have not been continuing to play in any of the games I subbed for.

No no, I don't think the sub had anything to do with it, though I suppose somehow it's possible the subbing screwed something up, though I have no idea how that would work.

Anyway, rdonj, the game we were most worried about is now perhaps the most promising, while the other 2 are just messy. Then again I had no great expectations for my ability with Tir, but I was curious to see how easily I would be defeated :)

Check the unrest in the province. Over 100?
No units built and your que from the turn before persists into your next turn.

That could be part of it Redeyes, but I change the tax rate and the next turn it's back at something else.

It's very odd.

Unrest can be caused by spies, but the tax rate should stay where I put it from turn to turn.

Yeah, I knew you didn't, I just thought I'd make it perfectly clear to anyone else.

I was wondering how those games were going. I've been following them a little, and I see you managed to make another enemy in the one. Glad to hear you're doing well in that first one, the position was looking pretty bad when I left it. So at least I know now I didn't mess things up for you :D

When you download the turn file, you are getting the ".trn" file, and it won't ask you to continue where you left off, unless there is a corresponding, current ".2h" file -for that turn- already existing in your local folder.

Also, while Llamaserver does not care where the ".2h" is sent from, it only delivers the ".trn" file to a single email at any given time. Thus, the mystery person would not only have to have access to your email account, but also replicate everything else you did for the turn, but only change the tax rate. That's like weird, stalkery, Charles Manson type stuff there. :p

Did you tax+patrol earlier in the game? It could be that if at one point you had taxes at 150% on purpose, that it really is somehow generating an artifact that places variables in only that province back to the same settings (150% tax + same recruitment) every turn somehow.

Indeed i did at one point set taxes to 150, but I had since reset it to auto.

I suppose it is possible I somehow redid that turn and reset it (unlikely, as I don't recall ever wiping out a turn).

Well it's not back on the last turn I got, so maybe I imagined the whole thing, or maybe it was a one time glitch, or maybe there is someone out there after me...

I don't want to scare you licker, but I think I found the guy:

That is very odd. I can't imagine the exact cause of this, but make sure you delete any 2h file in your game folder before you open the turn. Does that help?

It doesn't sound like a server issue.

I did that before the last one llama, deleted everything in the folder and everything was peachy.

Again, there are explainations for why the build queue was full (since I could have missed the over 100 unrest), but the tax thing was just really odd.

More than likely this is something I managed to mess up repeatedly and not an issue with either the game or llamaserver, but I just thought I'd throw it out there and see if anyone else had ever seen it before.

Yeah, incipient madness seems like the best explanation. ;) :)

Heh, well I am playing the same nation in 3 games at the same time....

I may chose not to do that again, even if I really really want to test out the different builds in MP...

Did you save the turn file and .2h in a sent folder or something?
Load them up again and you'll have a fairly conclusive answer.

Unfortunately no.

I could see if I could recover it I guess.

Are you, by any chance, playing all these games out of the same directory? I mean the specific directory in which your .2h and .trn files are been saved.

No, though it is quite possible that I accidentally saved the turn files in the wrong directories and did not correct that mistake properly.
