Ive done a search and I read the spots in the manual which refered to amphibious assaults, however in the maunual it shows all ocean where the barges start out.

On river crossings I get all my stuff loaded into the barges but the grey start line prevents me from placing the barges in the river. I see I cant move them on my own either.

What am I doing wrong? Do I need big trucks to carry the barges to the rivers edge?

You need to buy barge carriers. That's what's used in river crossings. Those carry barges and when bought you are buying a barge as well ( the two come as a package ..you buy a barge carrier and it's already "carrying" a barge).

Part of the "fun" is getting them to the river in one piece so you can launch then then load your troops and vehicles then get across the river ( and then back for more )

I will make a note to review the text in the game guide to ensure that is made clear

Ahhh...I probably was reading that but was overlooking the "Carrier" part.

Thanks a ton for the quick reply.

Some infantry already come with their own inflatable raft, and you may not necessarily notice this.

Right click on your infantry, and at the bottom of the list of speed, cost etc it may say 'Carrys inflatable raft'.

Just move that infantry section into deep water and they will automatically deploy the raft.

I would also recommned that you pick up lots of artillary with lots of smoke and lots of ammo. The best way to establish a beach head is to kill everything on the other side BEFORE you cross. You'll also want the smoke for when you cross. You'll be a sitting duck (literally) on the water.

Once you run out of smoke, constantly bombarding with HE will also obscure vision. Catching a few trees on fire will also add to the smoke. This is hit and miss, however as trees don't always catch. Flame rockets are a great way to create a long term smoke screen and scare the daylights out of anyone in the impact zone.
