During an assassination attempt, does the assassin get the chance to loot any items from his victim once the deed is done? This is assuming he has an open slot for the item in question though?

Yes. My experience is actually from a failed seduction attempt, not an assassination attempt, but I'm assuming it works the same way.

Really?

I have *never* gotten anything off an assassination - and I've been playing since the beginning.

Okay, here's a couple more, related questions. If you are the victim of assassination attempt, and you have other commanders in the province with the victim, do your commanders get to grab the victim's stuff first? Does the game randomly pick commanders in the province to loot items, or does the assassin only get them since he was the only one actually in the fight?

Yep, have gained two items in two rounds of assassination (same assassin) in a MP game at the moment. Neither is useful to the assassin, but it's nice nonetheless :)

The first question the answer is doubtlessly yes. I've had one of the MA Jomonese assasins (Malikos, or something. They are described as faceless horrors) gain items from slaughtered commanders.

(For the record, I get a kick of making skull amulet-assasins out of them. Gives them a feeling vaguely reminscent of "The Ring")

Assassinations, for the most part, are exactly like regular combat. The only people to get a shot at looting are commanders that participated in the battle. Only a percentage of items are able to be looted by the enemy, and then there's another random roll if the commander actually manages to find the items.

I've never gotten anything from assassinating either, how weird.

Looting from the enemy has big penalties, that's why. For items lost by the enemy, there's a fair chance that you may never even roll a check to recover them.

Commanders? I realize you can summon commander types in battle I suppose, and I exclude nergal and carcator - but how do multiple commanders participate in an assasination attempt?

Notice the first sentence.
