For a change, how a bout a friendly challenge

To keep the challenge simple and easy to play without investing too much time, the battle is setup on a small map and does not feature hundred of troops.

To play just download the attached zip archive and extract :
SpSv016.dat
SpSv016.cmt

And place those 2 files in
..\Shrapnel Games\The Camo Workshop\WinSPMBT\Saved Games\

Then load WinSP:MBT and select the "Saved Games" button and it is the save number 016 "T1,US vs Rus,2 1990"

Situation of this challenge :
Year 1990
A battle in central european winter terrain on a small 50x50 map
The player takes command of these US troops :

Against an unknown USSR army controlled by the computer (no spoiler, i just have let the CPU to buy itself its own troops using the battle points i spent to create the USA army).

The map features 3 clusters of victory points, central, south and north of the map in a maximum of roughly 20 turns.
In the 1st turn, most of the ground troops are loaded in M113.

Only 1 attempt is allowed in this challenge, your first time playing this battle is the one that counts.
Let's try honestly this challenge : you can save to continue later if time is running out for you, but it is not allowed to reload a save until the issue favour you ;)

Personnally, on my first attempt i missed the marginal victory for 200 points, and so was only awarded a draw.
In the end i was holding 2 of the 3 victory points clusters as the USSR managed to conquer one of the 3 clusters nearly fully.

The battle is not impossible to win, but be prepared for a fierce fight, it is easy to lose some expensive equipement or important squad if you are not cautious enough when moving them or if you overestimate you luck ;)

In my second attempt, i obtained a marginal victory :

The opposing forces managed to grab a victory hex in the last 3 turns in the north, but my troops there were under heavy pinning down with the focused fire of the mortars and so i couldn't get them back.

Knowing what kind of troops and weaponry to expect from your enemy really makes all the difference in a battle ;)

I gave this a try for giggles

Marginal Victory
US- 3096
USSR- 1235

Had the game lasted another turn it would have been a draw

Was the designed from the editor or was it a generated battle ?

Just the battle generator. I did not edited the map before start, decided to accept the outcome of the random generation for this challenge.

The cluster ammos are really impressive.
