this is an all EA Kailasa game.
the point of this game is to:
a) prove nothing.
and
b) encourage petty squabbling about what the best EA Kail build is.

Let the bickering begin!
I would say difficult research substantially changes the environment of the game, making a lot of builds a lot weaker, perhaps favoring heavy bless strategies. I think most games are played at normal research, wouldn't that be the best option for checking the best build?

i'm open to change research to normal. i'd rather put it to a vote. anybody playing in this game who has an opinion can vote. it there's a tie then it stays difficult.

An all Kailasa game makes about the air bless strategies less useful, but count me in.
Vote for difficult research.
If any nation can benefit from an A9 bless it is Kailasa, and you also have several pretender choices....

this must surely be some sort of sly subtle metagaming misdirection.

I was arguing for a major Air bless in that post, but that is suboptimal in this case.

Just realized, this game should be renamed Dominions Clamming Championship.

I would like to join, but I don't know if I'll have time for another game. Would you object to a slower game?
Why difficult research?

To favour Omni's prejudiced belief that Kailasa needs a strong bless build rather than a scales build? :angel

not so. I play difficult research in _every_ game and believe that MP should always be at least difficult research. I would actually play very difficult research in every game, but it does favor bless too much. I think difficult research is a good trade-off.
I like harder research because it makes mid-level stuff and research strategy much more important.
if you don't believe me, then look up every game I've ever started (all the Zorros, WildPansies, maybe one other, I can't remember). They are all difficult research.

I would have *loved* this game. But I'm in 5 already which is like 3 more than I can really comfortably handle.
But I am definitely curious as to the outcome of this game. Good luck to all!

I'll set May 13th as a tentative starting date for this game. I should have my semester wrapped up by then.
I'd like at least one more player too...

alright folks!
this game will be starting soon. We can still take on a few more players if anybody else wants in.
I've almost finished the All Kailasa mod. I will put off making a final decision on the map until I've got the mod finished, that way if another player or two joins in that time we can choose the right sized map.
I expect the mod to be finished later tonight, I'll add it to the OP for download then. Let's shoot for starting early next week.

Which map then?
Omnirizon
May 17th, 2009, 02:34 PM
mod and map is now on OP.
the map will be three lakes, good water. if someone has dropped we can use the same map with poor water, if someone joins then we can use the 'lots of water' version.
the kailasa that a player should use is noted on the OP too. (kailasa72, kailasa73, etc). They are named simply after the nation number they were assigned. the banners for each were pilfered from the 'eastern nation' ea banners of llamabanners.
some minor changes my occur to the mod as I make sure that all CBM changes are in place for these new Kailasas, and making sure they have the appropriate heros. so keep updated!

the all kailasa mod has changed mildly to add the heros and multiheros, and to add the new atavi cheiftan commander from CBM.
I know one person downloaded the older mod, be sure to get this new one. this should be the final version.
we will also be using CBM. so activate both mods.

I'd love to join, but my EA Kailasa build that I've argued for quite depended on normal research. Not that there's anything wrong with your settings. I'll see if it works with difficult research, but probably not, so good luck everyone and I'm watching this game with interest.

yeah my build isn't really great for an all Kailasa environment with difficult research so I will also bow out.
Sorry, i hope you can find other players.

Actually, I've tried mine out and it seems to work fine with a small tweak. So count me in if there is room. And I want to say this before the game begins, that an all-Kailasa game does, in fact, prove absolutely nothing as to what is the best build. Looking forward to it :D

OK good. I suppose you can take Kailasa73 (That was Alpine Joes). If AP comes back he can take Kailasa77.
I tried to select a slightly too big map for 5 players (it has over 100 provinces, 85 land + 19 water, thats 17 + 4 provinces per player) That size reduces the benefits a bless build gets from difficult research.
the next biggest suitable map (wraparound with some effort to balance it) was Bering, but it had almost 120 provinces, which I felt was just too large for 5 players.
If Alpine Joe decides to jump back in we can go with one of DireAussie's maps: Four Lakes and Forts, The Lonely Mermaid, or Mines and Farms. Those are all 120+ maps (Giving six players 20+ provinces). They are mostly land too making the extra room more usable. However, I really like maps with ample water and where most starts are guaranteed to have a water neighbor

I am sorry, but I am going to drop out of this one. I decided that I'm going to put school ahead of gaming this year, so I won't be starting any games until I finish all my June's exams.

well we're down to four, and there's been no word from Hadrian. I'd like to have a couple more to start, but if not I 'll got with what we got.
As soon as Hadrian gets back we can start.

its been days since I PM'd him and still no word from Hadrian II. without him that leaves us with three. I'd rather have a few more than that.
Due to current lack of interest in the game, I'm going to disband Bonobo and try again later.
Sorry everyone!

Give it a month or so Omni and I will play. I can't handle the games I'm in but would love to do kailasa v kailasa.

I am still around, and i would join the game, but 4 players is a bit low, as first 3 will kill one then 2 will kill one and then the weaker will loose the war against the stronger :)
