Hi, I haven´t been able to purchase airplanes on the first battle of generated campaigns, they just don´t appear on my misc. purchase screen until 2nd battle. Air sorties is 3 for me and the AI and I have enough points to spend but it says 0 remaining airstrikes, the AI purchased it´s 3 air units though.
Is it a known feature?
Using ww2 v 3.5 CD. Generated Campaign, 5 Battles, 6250 points, USSR vs Germany, June 1941-September 1941
Thanks in advance

Read the game guide you do not set air in Campaigns it is decided by the computer like a XXX setting always for both sides.

Ok, now I feel dumb! I remember have read that part but at that point I didn´t realize it means you don´t get planes but AI does, so I can´t buy planes on generated campaigns while the AI can?

No,under normal circumstances.
If you have the capabilty to use air units you can.
In Rus vs Germs in june '41,
The germans had reduced soviet air drastictly early on and had air supremacy that's why your getting those stukas dive bombing with impunity. i would say.
Hang on though, it should improve later when you can use them Sturmviks with a vengence;).

Thanks for the reply!
Makes sense historicaly speaking, you´re saying the code is programed to consider historical circumstances regarding air-spuerioirty?, why then I do get planes on my second battle still in 41?

Because Stalin loves you! :D
Or
because after the initial shock the soviet air force started a (slow?) "come-back"?

The whole game is coded for a suitable enemy force.
The AI tries to buy a force based on time & location as in the map Bat Loc No.
So you will face a diffrent force mix in diifrent locals mission types etc.
Air at XXX or in a Campaign is based on avalability & of course weather mission.
Both "roll a die" for variety so you may get some air but dont bank on it.
This is my understanding of how it works anyway.
The AI buy is generally quite good though as it cycles through buying unit types till spends the points can be a bit of a mess to play with. Dont expect lots of super tanks though buys more historically

Thanks guys! That´s what I call fast replies.
This info should be included into the game guide IMHO. Just saying there´s a lot of knowledge spread through this forum´s threads that should be included in the game guide, this isn´t the first time a clear answer comes from the board rather than from the manual itself.
Keep Cool
