After a sort hiatus I started playing around with dom3 for a little while.

I just had a strange occurrence. I was playing LA R'lyeh, and one of my insane commanders chose the become prophet command. So now I have two prophets.

I guess this is a bug. Anybody had this before?

Yeah, it happens. You can get more.

It's not a bug, it's a feature.

damn, but I don't want my dominion to spread to fast :). I need gold.

Your dominion doesn't spread from the extra prophets like you would expect. Only your "real" prophet adds extra temple checks.

Oh, yeah, they got hit by the overnerf bat pretty hard with the gold thing. If you don't want your dom spreading just get them killed, shouldn't be TOO hard.

Really Jazzepi? First I've heard that, who did the tests?

I did. False prophets don't generate temple checks and it is quite good now with R'lyeh killer dominion. But I didn't like it when my tests clearly showed it a year ago:).
Those prophets are just H3 priests, nothing more. Just like prophets of EA/LA Mictlan.

I'm not sure you should say "just" H3 priests.

There are many nice tricks I like about LA-R. Summon up black servents. Leave them sitting in dominion. They go crazy, and make themselves prophets.

Now they can reanimate.

Not to mention they make great smiters. And while they don't spread dominion as a prophet - they can be used to preach and spread dominion... almost half the time.

And the same trick can be used for almost anything...... Trolls are another good choice, because once they become the prophet their upkeep is halved.....

Finally, you can combine this with reasonable blesses to kit out thugs. Personally I like N4-9F4W4 but a W9N4 can also be useful. Most of R.'s freespawns sacreds are *slow*.

I thought prophets had no upkeep at all.

True, they don't. But I've never been sufficiently interested in the math to determine if they count as true prophets for no upkeep or just sacred half upkeep. So I said half upkeep to make it on the safe side!

Prophets are Blessed, not Sacred. I think Blessed (i.e. Shroud) doesn't halve upkeep.

I'm pretty sure prophets have no upkeep, it's in the manual. It isn't because they are blessed, it is prophet specific

Believe this is a bug accoding to Edi. Had this happen in MP a few weeks ago. I submitted the turn to support. Did not take advantage of it. It even gave me the option for my existing prophet to become a prophet. H4 might have been interesting..

It doesn't seem to be on the Bug short list at the moment. It may have been at one time.
It's definitely been known for awhile.

It isn't actually a bug, moreso a feature of LA R'lyeh. It comes with the insanity.

They do really random things (like calling god when the pretender is perfectly safe and they don't have priest levels, or when they research without RP).

This behavior occurs so often that while it may have been a bug originally - there is no way it isn't known about now. I think this falls into design flavor at this point.

I hope so. I hate it when interesting things get taken out of the game because they are considered bugs.

Hmmm. I was LA Arco. I can post the turn if you are interested.

SSJ - Tolkien is right. I have several SP games where I have more than a dozen prophets running around. And this has been a feature of LA-R.. a looooooooong time.

Since the game was MP I never got the chance to reprophetize my prophet. Would he have gone to H4?

Since he's already a prophet, I don't see how he can become a prophet after becoming a prophet. Unless of course being made prophet again makes your prophet an even better prophet, in which case your double prophet-prophet would be the best prophet. Prophet.

The most common way to reprophetize a prophet is bring him back from the dead. And yes, he does go to h4.

Can insane R'lyeh prophets get the "prophet" order?

If so does it work?

I've never gotten it.
