1) do boots of flying affect my map movement or just combat?
2) what do inanimate and lifeless mean? are inanimate and/or lifeless beings susceptible to the gorgon's whatever-it-is-that-kills-everyone-who-attacks her? is anyone immune to it or does any attacker make a MR role to survive?

1) +1 mapmove
2) Inanimate/lifeless affects aging mechanics (see FAQ), gives immunity to sleep and similar spells and is vulnerable to certain kinds of special damage. It does not give immunity to the gorgon's petrification ability. Only stone beings like gargoyle and living statues are immune to that.

1) +1 mapmove
Plus the ability to ignore all other movement restrictions(like ignoring forests/mountains, and attacking enemy territory without being in an adjacent province), just like flying creatures.

Bear in mind you won't be able to fly 3 provinces if one of them is over the sea (possibly sea provinces count as 2 for movement). At least, I don't ever remember being able to.

+1 mapmove? I thought it was just a straight mapmove 3. I don't recall seeing my mapmove 3 guys get mapmove 4 with flying.

Also, you can't go from mapmove 0 to mapmove 1 by putting on boots or sitting on a flying carpet (I'm not sure if there are any units with mapmove 0 that can wear boots).
