View Full Version : Multiple save games?

I've tried several times to get into this game, but its never really hooked me.
I'm going to try again.
I remember there is no way within game to save multiple copies of the same game, which I think is a shame, because you cannot try multiple strategies from the same point.
I vaguely remember some user made utilities that allowed multiple saves.
Can anyone point me to one of these?

There may be some utilities for that, dunno.
You can do it manually by just copying your .2h file from the game folder (under Saved Games) into a different folder. Then, if you want to go back, just move your old .2h file back into the game folder.

You can easily do it manually.
1) Find your Dominions3 folder.
2) Go to the /dominions3/savedgames folder
3) Copy the folder with name of your game
That's it. Your done.
When you want to redo a turn, just move the contents of the copy to the original, or to another folder within the savedgames folder.
Edit: Foiled by Lingchih once again. I will have my revenge!

Thanks.
For anyone who has Vista, the default for savedgames is no longer in the C:\Program Files. It is at "C:\Users\{whatever your user name is here}\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files\dominions3\savedgames"

Unless you dropped the game into a location other then the Program Files folder. :)

I have a very tiny zip on the Utilities page of Dom3Minions.com which works find for WinXP and probably some other windows also.
Its just a standard windows thing without adding anything to the system. You put it in your dominions3 directory. Its a desktop link, with an icon that looks like a safe, and when you click it does a
C:\WINDOWS\system32\xcopy.exe /yes savedgames oldsaves /i
When you click it all of the games are saved to a matching version in an oldsaves directory.
