Hi,
A guy in my game is staling out and I can't seem to find a sub just yet. Is there any way for me to set the nation to AI for now, and hand it back to a sub afterwards?
Sorry if it's a repost, but I tried to search for llamaserver threads but couldn't find an answer. :(
Alternately, if anybody wants to join our SummerMadness game as a sub for us temporarily at least if not for the entire game that'll be super awesome too. :)
Oh one more thing. If I need to set the nation in question, Fomoria, to AI, do I need to get another player to submit the .trn file. I am currently a player in the game and don't want to cause a stale due to submitting two files with the same serial number.

No, setting a nation to AI is unfortunately permanent. You can't even choose the difficulty level.

And to answer your second question: I'm not actually sure. Certainly you used to have to ask someone else to do it or else you'd get a CD key violation (and either your own turn or the AIing would fail), but more recently people have reported that no CD key violation is caused by both setting someone AI and taking your own turn.

Only the nation with the higher id will stale due to CD key violation.

I just tested this on the llamaserver.
Created a game with 2 nations, submitted pretenders for both.
Played the first turn for both. No CD-key issues.
Set one to AI, played the other. No CD-key issues.
All of this with the same game installation, same CD-key on the same computer. Which should be perfectly legal and not trigger any copy protection issues.
I'm satisfied enough that it works.
Of course, you have to do it from the same computer. Don't try to use an install on your laptop or work computer to set someone AI when you've done your turn from your home desktop.

Hmmmm. So, thejeff, from your example, are you saying that multiple players can play from the same computer in a llamaserver game, hotseat-style? I live in a dorm with a few other Dom3 gamers, some of whom don't have copies of the game, so I'd like to set a game up that way.

That is what I just did. I can't see why it wouldn't work.

I have another llamaserver question (relates to same game with Elegy). After the game is over, is there any way to dig up the .2h/.trn files for all nations via llamaserver? I'm... extremely curious as to what transpired a few turns ago. :)
Or can we only rely on people's email archive files?

thejeff, did you use a seperate email account for each nation? I am about to set the nation to AI but just realized I had it sent to the same email. Thanks again for your help.

Same email account. Llamaserver cares about the email. The actual game wouldn't even see it.
