Hey guys, you remember me, don't you? Well, I think the CD key is in the manual and I threw it away a while ago. I usually record all my CD keys on my computer, but it just so happened I forgot this one.
Is there anything that can be done?

If you have Dom3 still installed search for a file called "key" in your dominions directories, if you open that with a text editor there you go.
Otherwise contact Shrapnel Support, I'd say, not the devs.

Yes, I remember Argitoth... played him many times. He owns the game, or at least once did. No idea why anyone would throw away the manual though.

Compared to what? More people seem to toss the discs than the manual.
And why oh why did you ever delete the game? The key is a plain text file in your dom3 directory. Its in a file called... umm... "key".
No old backup discs or anything?
But if you bought the game thru Shrapnel they should have record of the sale. Contact Customer Support.

Dood! Gandalf! I Didn't even delete the game, guess what happened? I got a virus, right? Well, that wasn't the problem. The virus was bad enough that I wanted to reformat and do a fresh install of windows. Stupid me, I forgot to backup some very important stuff. Not that I would have backed up an install of Dominions, but the harddrive format is why the game got uninstalled...
..im going to try a file recovery.

well here's the thing. I don't need a new CD key.
if only the CD key was recorded in some kind of system that allowed a developer or distributor to know what CD key belongs to what customer or purchase. actually, this is how it's done with a lot of online software I buy for digital audio composition.

Yeah I know. And Ive been trying hard NOT to "work at the position I no longer hold". But I figured Argitoth was an old supporter so I popped off anyway. The problem is that its so naturally "me" to do customer support. I will try harder next time to comply with the requests for me to pull back.

Pile your old unwanted manuals together and sell them on ebay next time. You'd be surprised how there's so many people interested in fantasy materials/books/manuals. Even those who don't have the game buy the stuff for their fantasy collections.
I rarely use the manual myself, but I keep the manual more as a trophy since this is one of my favorite games.

Hey old friend. Sorry, I'm not actually back to play Dominions 3. I know if I got started, I'd spend many more hours than necessary re-thinking my every move and over-analyzing everyone else's. My life right now is too busy to risk becoming obsessed. The reason I popped up on the forum again is because ever since I heard Draam music from Dominions, I've been inspired by it. Upon reinstalling the game to hear the music, I discovered I no longer had the CD key.
The Dominions III music has such a quality to it that I never heard before, a quality that I can't put into words. It's so raw, simple... I dunno. Anyway, because of the Dominions 3 music I got inspired to buy and record a Kinnor Harp sample library and will be selling it to make money. I am a composer and sound designer and always will be!

get access to that computer any way you can, hope it's not deleted or the harddrive isn't formatted. if it is, get data recovery software: GetDataBack for NTFS, download the demo; it will work for this, im pretty sure. use deep searches, make sure you see the "more damaged" sectors when searching too.
