Does this kill anyone it hits? Does magic resistance negate? Can you wipe out an army of SC's with these?

It's MR negates. Still an ok anti-SC tool, though.

Ok is about the size of it.
Add boots of quickness and a bow of botox to improve results.

It's soul slay on hit. And it's bugged - it kills mindless too, which are immune to soul slay.

There's a problem with this crossbow - you wont hit any SC with it. :) Even with a high precision, arrows tend to miss, and then SC gets swarmed by your own units and crossbowmen refuse to shoot. And even if they dont, SC tend to carry big shields.
And when you finally hit, SC doesnt fail MR check and laughs in your face. In my tests, these crossbows never worked.

They're a pretty silly way to hunt elephants though.

Hitting is not the issue. Against a certain class of SC's (those that like to buff quite a bit) - you will hit... getting even moderately fatigued helps a lot.
MR is the issue, which is why I suggested botox. No resistance to Botox, and feeblemind gives -5 MR. Still sucks against heavy duty sc - but viable in some instances.

Why does everyone suddenly think he needs BOTOX? :p
(and yes, I do know what you mean).

IMO it's most useful for big units like trolls and scorpion Beasts. Any unit with a good shield is virtually immune to missiles. As I had watched in a MP, an Adon with Scutata Volturnus killed 15+ Ethereal crossbow-wielding commanders in about 10 turns and got no harm at all...

It's not that Botox makes you feebleminded, just that many feebleminded people use Botox.
