I just cast Fata Morgana in a MP game... no other fata Morgana is up. SHould have been easy. No way, the message says it was not successfull because it was "overpowered by the current existing global spell and did not take effect"

WTF! there are only 4 globals up and none of them is Fata Morgana. Anyone has an explanation or this happened to them before? only thing I can think of is that Fata Morgana is incompatible with "Gift of Nature s Bounty" which has a similar effect and is one of the 4 globals up in my game?

I dont really want to try again and loose the gems uselessly... Any ideas?

There are globals as Ghost ship armada which can end the same turn they were cast.
Maybe your enchantment was replaced by one of these.

No, no. See the message I got above. It was not replaced by anything. It never took effect.

The possibility he's mentioning is this:

1) Someone else's global gets cast, bringing the total to five.
2) Yours tries to go up, but is blocked by the existing one.
3) *Then* the other global gets canceled for some reason, dispelled, caster dies, etc.

That could produce the results you mention, I think.

I see I just realized that a 6th spell will still need to win a roll against one of the others randomly. I thought it did not need a roll.

Thanks.

Yup. I've had this happen to me in SP.

There were 4 globals up, I tried to cast one and failed, there were still 4 globals up. However, one of my provinces was attacked by the ghost ship armada that turn.

There should be a message about it going up in the turn though, even if it goes down the same turn, no?
