Stars are wrong in high resolution

The stars extend only 1280 pixels out from the left side of the screen so anything higher than 1280x1024 has a large blank area in the intro and space combat.

I have heard that this is something that could be fixed in a mod. Has this been done?

I run the game at 1920x1080 and I don't have the problem you are having. :(

Spaceman, have you patched the game to its latest version? On which operating system are you running? Are you playing fullscreen, and at what resolution?

I'm not saying I have any clue, but any extra information would probably help troubleshooting.
