Thinking about buying. Although I have a few questions.
First, is there a way to play on a 1440X900 resolution screen? From what it says on the website, the higher resolutions are great but are useless for widesceen.
Will TCP/IP play ever be added?

1) Set your graphics to a higher resolution, in windowed mode, than your desktop and it will use the available desktop less the Windows task bar at the bottom of the screen. See the Game Guide, "Tuning Your Machine" Windowed mode section. So 1680 should do it for that one. (Remember to not use 'auto hide'.)
2) No

1) I have a 1920x1200 16:10 monitor.
There are two ways to play. Either set it to windowed mode, or if your monitor can do correct aspect scaling, fullscreen then use any resolution and it will fill the monitor as much as possible (black bars sides or top-bottom). The latter also works if your graphics card and driver can do GPU scaling (correct aspect).
The latter is what I usually do. There are two black bars on the left and right side, but nothing tragic.
There is another solution if you can't do any of the above. Let it stretch. It still doesn't look bad!

Atleast the game still has support. This means there is *some* chance us with widescreen monitors will get some love.
Thats what happened with Matrix Games' War in the Pacific: Admiral's Edition. They said it wouldn't get any higher resolutions than 1024x768 then out of no where they release a patch that supports every single resolution in existence. Anything can happen.

I am willing to place a bet that that won't happen here, at least not for a couple years (I can't see further into the future :p ) If I remember correctly, the developers here are not fans of widescreen monitors (they are things of the Devil :p ).
More important though, this is an old game, old code etc. If they are going to need to spend hundrends of hours in doing it, I don't know how much it will be worth it to them in terms of returns due to it. Lets face it, most of the gamers that play this game are not doing it because of the pixel shaders 4.0 used in the game :)
But as I said, it's a non issue. You get used to it.

I don't get why some say the resolution is not good enough or "want it to be better"
Is not the game built on strategy and tactics?
If you want to see the fly on the nose of a tank commander before you shoot,it's never going to happen in these SP games,
Dont make a difference at all in game play however, IMHO:D

Playing in windowed mode for me isn't a problem, so I can handle it especially if windowed mode takes full screen. You guys are right though, it's not a big deal as I'm still really enjoying the free version of game with 800x600 on my widescreen until my CD version arrives.

I play in the Windowed mode with my resolution set at 1600x1280 with no stretch.
I have a DELL 22" HD Wide, you'll be fine. Enjoy the CD version!

Pat
