Thought some of you might be interested to know that I have successfully gotten WinSPWW2 to run on OS X using Codeweaver's Crossover Games (http://www.codeweavers.com/products/cxgames/) software.
Everything works just fine, except that there is a slight crackling at the beginning of every sound effect.
When running the game, I chose the GDI option instead of DirectX.

I can also add it runs fine simply using Oracle's VirtualBox software, too.

I have been able to run this using VWware Fusion with Windows XP for several years. Currently on Mac OS 10.9 with Fusion v4.1
Even works with a Wacom tablet!
I would be interested to know if anyone has this running using Wine on OSX, or any other way on OS X. The game makes my fans run on high whenever I'm in the game, and the chassis gets pretty warm, so I am exploring other ways to run it.

Hi all,
I can add to this, that I have WinSPWW2 also successfully running on El Capitan (latest build) on a Macbook retina 12 inch at 1024x786 resolution or 1152x864 resolution using windowed mode.
I am grateful that Don and Andy still actively support this marvelous game.
Happy X-mas to all!
cheers

I've been able to make both paid versions of spWW2 and spMBT to run very smoothly and no crashes with an iMAC running OSX Mavericks installing and using through WINE.
There was no need to do any special Winetricks but it was very important to use the engine version WS8Wine1.4 and not any other. Trying to use any older Wine engine and there were problems with the graphics getting all messy or the game not running at all. Trying any newer Wine engine than 1.4 caused the game to run very slowly, all the actions having a terrible delay.
In Wine's 'Set Screen Options' I just use Automatic settings. From smWW2/spMBT launchers I use 'Fullscreen', 'DirectX' and screen size 'Desktop'.

Hi,
Small update which might be of interest to others. After the free trial of Crossover ended I switched to Wineskin. It´s completely free and runs both SPWWW2 and SPMBT.
I run Sierra 10.12.6 on a Macbook 12inch, early 2015 using Wineskin engine WS9Winestaging2.12 and Wineskin 2.6.2.
I play both games at 1024x768 windowed and they run perfectly fine for me on my Macbook.
Get Wineskin at the link below. In contrast to Codeweavers Crossover it´s completely free of charge.

Can´t believe that it is almost 20 years that I joined this board :-)
Anyways just a small update that this incredible piece of software Don and Andy created two decades ago is happily running strong on my MacBook Pro (MacOS Sequoia 15.2) using Porting Kit 6.3.2 (successor of Wineskin). Get it here (https://www.portingkit.com). It´s free and nicely offers you a way to port/run lots of windows games on the Mac.
Happy x-mas to you all and stay healthy!
