Looks like the British Army will get some new ‘Light Patrol Vehicles’ with IED protection.

I'm not sure that the contract is signed yet.


The new vehicle: SPV400

When: early 2011

Quantity: 200

Weight: 7.5 tonne

Speed: 120 kmh (80mph on desert plain)

Carries: 6 men total

Armament: Optional remote-controlled 7.62 or 12.7mm MG turret

The LPPV program is still under evaluation. British MOD just putting the pieces together under their UOR program for funding.
The BvS VIKINGS were and example of equipment bought under this streamlined process, though later replaced by the WARTHOG.

British MOD purchased two OCELOT's to continue farther testing in the LPPV program. The OCELOT is competing against the SPV-400 for this contract.
