I'd prefer not to have 1 water nation. 2+ is fine, I just don't like the idea of someone being able to take the water and turtle.

This is intended to be an intermediate level game. Complete newbies would probably be out of place. If you've made it through to lategame in at least one MP, that's probably enough experience. Vets are welcome, but may not find enough challenge. I'd suggest taking a weaker nation and/or trying an experimental strategy.

And if anyone has a brilliant suggestion for a game name, I'll take it. Or i'll come up with something less brilliant.

Are you sure you did every step?
You deleted the entire folder? (not just the turn file?)
You have to make sure to delete the fatherlnd file, the .2h file *and* the .trn.

The only way to use turn 1 is to redo the game from scratch.

That's my feeling as well. But I figured I would let everyone else chime in and let me know how they feel.

Just one stale turn is all, so pick it up with the next turn would be my solution. I can extend the time frame if you need it.

This game really highlights to me why having a good expansion plan is so critical. Sitting at 8 provinces on turn 13. Not good, Marigon has 8 provinces, Mictlan has 21. Mictlan starts with almost a 3 to 1 advantage. With a map setting like this (there are still 70 neutrals left for the taking!) not having at least 15 provinces by turn 12 is like putting a big fat target on the back of your nation.

The only thing that hacks me off, is by turn 8 or so, I had run into three guys that had me boxed in. I look to the other areas of the map, and there are plenty of neutrals out there next to other players.

And I have an interesting observation for all of you. Mictlan still advances upon Marigon despite the slash and burn raids perpetrated on him by my small warden forces. He ignores these raids because he wishes to beat his chest and point and scream about how much land Man has taken while continuing his advance upon Marigon.

Don't let Mictlin fool you in to thinking that man is the bigger threat. No one else was willing to step up to help tiny Marigon as Mictlin moved his giant army to gobble them up.

You have 6 raiding groups in my land. Four of these raiding groups were headed by fully kitted thugs. To build units in your capitol, equip them, move them to your border and then stealth them deep into my lands means that you were committed to war with me long before I attacked marignon.

It also means you had no intentions of honoring the nap you agreed to now three turns ago - let alone the flowery language where you said you would never move south of our border.

Yes, I attacked marignon, nations do that. The difference between us was that I made no pretext about it; I didn't add the insult of lying.

As for your chicken little protestations - "Beware! -mictlan attacks marignon!" Man is the biggest nation in the game. The changes in CBM have made his blessed stealthy sacreds and thugs deadly. And he attacks without honor.

I was going to say nothing in this little dance of ours - until you decided to bruit crap to the winds.

To the nations that border man I would suggest he deserves the same crap he has pulled. Attack without warning, regardless of your nap status. Never let him know when the knives may come.

I still have a 600+ man army, and I am still recruiting mictlans justly famous jaguar warriors. But in the long term - no nation can hope to prevail against a much bigger nation without aid.

Man is now twice as big as mictlan - more than twice as big as any other nation in the game. How big do you want him to get before you act?

Stealthy troops move 1 province per turn (unless flying etc). So its quite easy to track how long ago you were commited to this. You were sieging my capitol two turns ago for crying out loud! (since beaten off).

crispederson has contacted me by phone and has had his cable line cut by accident. He is not sure how long before they fix it but is requesting a 48 hour extension. If they don't get it handled in that time he may need another short extension.

I see that someone has requested an extension from Friday until Tuesday. If he would need another extension coupled with that extension should get him back in good shape.

It had so many attacks that I frequently only saw two battles in a province (when hitting 'v') but there were clearly later battles that my forces lost. I haven't played a game with Utterdark up this long... is this normal? It is definitely funny. Can someone please go kick the crap out of Shinuyama's last fortress?

I'm wondering if our turn is delayed because we are getting exponentially more attacks from Utterdark every month, and last month we had so many (almost every province, more than two attacks/province) that the game couldn't even show them all to us after the fact. So to the other games in progress, sorry if we broke llamaserver! If it's not dead this turn and is just taking some time then sorry in advance for next month!

Whoa, I just got this from llamabeast:

Hi. On trying to host Abandon just now, Dominions crashed. This is not a LlamaServer issue, but rather Dominions itself crashed with a "Nagot gick fel" error.

These errors are normally caused by a (generally inexplicable) problem with one of the players' 2h files. Therefore the LlamaServer moved all your 2h files away before hosting again. This is why you will receive a new turn file in which you've staled.

There are two options from here. Either you can treat the stale turn as a random event and carry on with the game, or you can roll back the turn and try to host again. If you try the latter your game admin will have to do the rollback via the admin options on the LlamaServer website, and you will all have to do your turns again. Note that in this case it is _really important_ that you actually do redo your turn, rather than just sending in the same one again (which people sometimes seem to do because they don't believe me). If you just send in the same file, hosting will simply fail again.

I hope you manage to get the game back on course, whichever option you go for.

I'm good with whatever Pythium, Man, and Bandar want to do. We might want to dispel Utterdark at some point since it's actually blowing up Dominions 3... the last turn that actually managed to host was pretty buggy (in terms of many battles not being seen, I'm guessing because my message buffer couldn't handle them all) and I'm guessing this one might also crash, but I guess we'll see.

It might be good to not spend a huge amount of time on a redone turn that might just crash the server again...

Also, I was loving the buggy utterdark and had no intentions of shutting it down. But I feel bad for taking advantage of something that was so bugged. I have a good amount of death income (from Ctiss holdings) and a simple bane with a shroud and a bracer (less than 10 gems) was able to hold my provinces(The shroud gave em regen, armor of 23 and MR 18, not to mention gift of health).

I wonder what would have happened if I had went up against Pythium's massive air elemental barrage in the first round. I was paranoid about Man sending his S9 pretender and getting a mind duel off against my S5 pretender. I was surprised not to see more undead commanders in the mix due to Utterdark. Good game!
