I wonder if they'll ever give us a new nation. Like EA+MA Bogarus, EA+LA Machaka, EA Pyth or manifest some other culture or myth. Maybe incorporate hoburg not as a mod nation...

The game has a nation slot reserved for EA Machaka. Like it had for Hinnom, Ashdod & Gath a while ago.

EA Machaka would be good. Maybe their lack of armor wouldn't be such a pain in EA. Spiders are cool, I hope they keep them.

EA Machaka would in all likelihood not have spiders. They are supposedly a lion themed nation. There's a lot of stuff to work with for them, but if cultural/mythological progression is followed, EA Machaka would also be a primarily Air/Fire/Nature nation instead of Earth/Fire/Death like MA Machaka.
This ties into the prevalent black African creation myths where people dwelling in the clouds are a regularly featured convention, as well as learning fire from them and men being immortal until they were tricked by a lizard (in some variations a snake, but most often a lizard) to bury the body of a person killed by some means in the earth, which caused all men to become mortal and subject to death by disease and other methods.
I had a good chat with Kristoffer about these things a couple of years back, but at the time he was busy developing Jomon and a few other things so EA Machaka got sidelined.

Maybe you could kindly nudge KO to get EA Mackaka out of the freezer ;)
Lion themed A/F/N EA Machaka would be nice indeed :)
Were there ever any thoughts re. LA Machaka?

Well, I could ask Kristoffer if he has any hankering for doing EA Machaka. Can't hurt. :)
We never did discuss a Late Era Machaka. One of the reasons why is that I don't have a suitable frame of reference or knowledge for that particular subject.

There was some talk about MA Vanarus. But yes, it'd be nicer to have EA Machaka before that, especially with reserved spot for them already.
It could be nice break for KO to do 2 or more nations, he can't work on the new project all the time :P
And can we get Crumble, poison archers, caves and AI spellcasting [AI ignoring scripted spells to cast Vortex of Returning isntead] fixed? :)
P.S. I'd really really love a blacklist of spells that a mage is not allowed to cast during battle, even if it's 1-5 spells big. Barskin under Fire Storm?

I'd like to see missiles fixed so that shields don't render even armour piercing and armour negating ones useless myself.

Perhaps an LA Machaka could be based on the Zulu's? you know with Impis as soldiers armed with short spears but I have no idea what sort of magic or summons you could give them. Although that said according to wikipedia they believed in ancestor worship and that diviners and herbalists were a major part of their religion. So perhaps some Death Nature and Astral mages?

More notes on the updates page. Mostly little stuff.

(and NO there is no estimate on when the next patch will actually be released)

* Battles caused by random events are now resolved at the end of the random event step. This should fix any problems with barbarians attacking a sieging army due to bad luck.
If this means that battles caused by random events are fought before movement, then this is a major change in mechanics. I can see all sorts of problems arising from this - like an unfortunate "teleporting" indy attack that wastes your gems before a big battle.

For reference:
15th May 2010
* Mighty Yari was incorrectly a missile weapon, fixed.
* Yogini was not a female, fixed.
* Some units got wrong type of names, fixed
* Horse Brothers had switched pictures with their commander, fixed.
* Tribal King now has a javelin instead of a sling, just like in the picture.
* Burned down lab/temple event messages while sieged now go to the sieged player.
* Battles caused by random events are now resolved at the end of the random event step. This should fix any problems with barbarians attacking a sieging army due to bad luck.
* The Blood Keep site now gives a mountain citadel instead of a swamp city.
* Many more sites can now be found in cave provinces.

Oh I wish IW would one day enhance F1 screen.
Simple touches would go a lot towards reducing late game MM.
some examples:
1. Show full unit order when hovering mouse over order. like:
X casts teleport at
and the at part always gets left out :(
2. Allow to jump to commander from F1 and returning to him when pressing F1 again. Instead of having to find him again in the list (try that, repeatedly, with ~100 provinces empire)
3. Same for jumping to province X from F1 screen
I won't even mention more elaborate enhancements. Just this bit would make many players quite happy I think.

Have you ever hit tab while in the F1 screen?
Its not what you wanted but its awfully handy

yeah, I'm aware of the tab key. It's ok but not what I'd like to see :)

Thats actually one of the more interesting suggestions Ive seen in quite awhile. You should dig up the official wishlist thread (I think it might be stickied someplace) and add that if its not there already.
Most requests are either too involved to ever be likely, or something that can already be done with 3rd party programs, or too windows specific. This is the first Ive sen in awhile that might be simple enough to be tossed into a patch.
But then Im probably biased. For long running solo games with lots of provinces (which I am known for) this would be even more useful than the commander rename function for keeping in-game notes.
