Greetings!
I'd like to join as Tien Chi.
Is it necessary to use wraparound map? I don't like playing on toroids. ;) If necessary, I'd vote for Urraparand - at least, it explains why.

I would like to play Atlantis if someone plays R'lyeh, if not then I'll take Bogarus.
Atlantis is fine, as it is a land nation.
I also noticed that r'lyeh is the only water nation in late, so r'lyeh is banned from the game. (if you object, please speak up now)
@Wrana: Wraparound is only because i like wraparound the most, but you may propose another non wraparound map if you want.

I would like to take Man,

Theoretically, both Atlantis and Jomon are nations with good water access in LA, able to fight R'lyeh. So I think it can be allowed, especially as we have both of them present.
@Wrana: Wraparound is only because i like wraparound the most, but you may propose another non wraparound map if you want.
As I said, Urraparand seems the best wraparound map to me. Also a Planet Rorshach, which has spherical geometry.
Among non-wraparound I like Tyrande & Dawn of Dominions, but these are possibly too small if you want many players. Then maybe World of Geometry or World of Symmetry.

I don't know about some maps but I know Orania only have a tiny strip of water, and Atlantis always starts at the coast. Though there's no garantee that R'lyeh won't steam roll Atlantis over first before I get any indie ranged units to take out the cheap mindblasting bastards or build a fortress in the water to recruit magic resist units which are only available in oceanic fortresses. R'lyeh would offer a challenge for anyone near the water without archers but I suppose it's not so bad.

But if it is early, would you really enter the water and engage R'lyeh or would you try to fight an easier target?

Urraparand is to small <10 provinces per player, Planet Rorschach would be an idea, as it is a wraparound map.

What do you mean ?
@bout Abysia : true, the counterattack of Ulm against Abysia has been very impressive, some nice little battles around there although I confess that I would not have bid a single gem on Ulm after the initial offensive of Abysia. That's a good lesson : do not rest near a vampire's fort.

I originally posted offering to sub in for Abysia to give them a last stand. But Hadrian had already sorted the problem by setting Abysia AI by the time I contacted him (and Abysia was the last turn outstanding for hosting). So I then went back and edited my message to the above.
My thought was everyone would just ignore my edited message, and this would help avoid confusion regarding where I'm talking about subbing in to make a last stand for Abysia one minute, but yet they ended up as AI the next turn. But obviously my plan resulted in an epic fail  as evidenced by this very explanation :)

Destroyer of Worlds (d9a4b2, I think). I'm not sold on him as SC, so I thought he could use ranged attacks to suppot initial expansion, then jumpstart a blood economy, and once that was up and running, with precision and penetration boosters, he could support a real army. He was cursed by a lizard shaman on turn 3, and chopped up by barbarians on turn 4, with afflictions piling up ridiculously quickly.
The vampire count you see near my territory did not affect me. Patala gets elephants, and I should have used them for expansion. I agree I should have sought peace, but I wasn't getting into blood with him dead, and my mages are also my priests, so by calling god, I was lagging in research. By turn 6 my situation was pretty hopeless. Bad luck, and worse decisions by me, and no good expansion routes.
See you next time

The last armies of Gath have been banned out of our sacred land, let the people of Arcoscephale and his allies sing and rejoice !
Alas, the Evil Priests left behind them a great deal of pain and destruction : during the few month they ruled the Sami Mantle, the two thirds of the inhabitants of our capitol have been slaughtered through blood hunt and pillage, ruined through taxes, and all the buildings of the City uselessly destroyed.
The people of Arcoscephale claims for vengeance. This is fair but futile : the Ennemy has been wipped and is no more haunting this world. So what ? Ladies and gentlemen, have pity and mercy of us. Any whisky around here in order to warm our bleeding hearts ? We shall gladefully trade any barrel of the Divine Liquor for 10 astral pearls, just PM.

Unlikely as it is that I'll be able to fight off such a massive alliance after failing to secure a single ally myself, I will make them bleed like pigs. To the few players *not* attacking me you might want to consider what's going to happen when I'm not killing swarms of these guys each turn anymore. Marignon urgently calls for the last couple "independent" nations to rally to their banner. After I fall your owly slim hope will be that they turn on each other before eating the rest because they'll collectively have about 3 times the power of everyone else left.

Do not listen to the silver tongue of the demon overlord of marignon. We are a group of nations who took it upon us to defeat marignon with great costs to our empires to protect the world from his rule.
After his attack and the following destruction of Caelum, everyone should see, that if we do not stand together against marignon, we will be killed one by one by him.
But sadly we have to rapport, that marignon has already a slave empire called bogarus, who took it upon themselves to walk around half the world, to engage me in my back.
btw. LA Marignon played by Baalz should be treated as LA Ermor and dealt with accordingly.

This is, quite unfortunately for me not a new pathology. Flattering though it is I have yet to pull myself out from under the 4-5 nation pileup that my inflated reputation seems to encourage.
And errrr, talking about Caelum, he stalled three turns in a rows, better set him to IA I guess.
He's got just a sieged cap. There seems to be a decent sized force in it but he seems to be inclined to force me to storm it. Hard to say how much longer I've got to chip away at that godawful thick wall though.

Well, let's hope that you can put up a good fight then. Antagonizing a single player makes the game boring unless it's ermor. Since you only got 2 baalz, at least I hope so, they should be fighting over them in the end. If you win then good for you.

Hum. Resurrection in heretic lands ? So weird... I will have to cut two or three heads amongst my astrologers for they did not tell me anything about those irrational mysteries.
But this is not the purpose of my presence here.
I am here to claim, Lords and Ladies and Bachelorettes, that War has been declared upon Atlantis.
At last.
Yes ! 't was about foocking time. And y'a know, maybe it is already too late. The True God will give us some signs about our fate soon or late. Anyway, Plotin the Wise said once in his Enneades : "It was not the duty of the Gods to win in place of the peaceful. So, Ladies and Lords and Bachelorettes, the point is now that I invite you to join the Holy Crusade Against The Evils Shrimps (or Worse), for They are now so Powerful and Ugly and... well, you know... that we will for sure need help and troops and love (and whisky).

The council of shambling shamblers was struck by the outrageous reports of deliberate attack from Arco without a sign of breaking NAP3 nor declaration of war. With this angering and saddening news, Hatteliar the ugly basalt king have been elected councilor of the new SS by the angry mobs of young foolish atlantians. Our beloved icecream dagon is too diseased and cursed to stop the inevitable says his spokesman the river naiad, "peace and love will no longer be the priorty of the icecreamland, now death and blizzard will play with the land!"
Hatteliar first act coming to power was to employ global policy of human genocide recently annouced by his new icecream truck Goebbols:
1. All humies found in our land will be frozen into cubes and transported to the concentration caves for later undead uses.
2. All humies found outside of ourland will age and die and frozen for later undead uses.
3. All humies that are still not born have a chance to live by crawling out of mother's womb and crawl into the new invention that our beloved Naiad discovered- The Refridgerator. It will turn yuckie humies into icecream loving Atlantians! Mothers of human kind, think of your children and buy them a refridgerator! It's only now 1g if you hand over your husband! Sold in your local caves.
Hattelair has also announced that all races inside the lands other than humans that cannot breath water be tried for witchery and blasphemy. The trial will comprise of 3 step process:
-First, victim needs to submerge underwater without floating for 1 hour to get to second trial.
-Second, you will wear the slave collar and submerge underwater without floating for 1 hour to get to the third trial.
-Finally, you will be inspected by a professional Angakok and be cast Control of Dead(Thau 5) which recently just discovered to vaccinate witchery for eternity.

Nice statement, Unholy Rotted Shrimp.
We from Arcoscephale the Peaceful Land, nevertheless notice that your words and the rituals you have just cast are an evidence of universal evilness and a straight Declaration of War upon all the earth (hence civilized) nations of this World.
I guess most of them will hear the threat and act accordingly. May the Three Thousand Incontinent Cats forever cast their Stinky Rain upon the heads of those who will not join the Crusade.
Also, I want to point some erroneous statement in your declaration :
The council of shambling shamblers was struck by the outrageous reports of deliberate attack from Arco without a sign of breaking NAP3 nor declaration of war.
No NAP has been signed between our nations. Arcoscephale went at war against Gath to help you, our warriors saved your people from a fast and bloody extermination, but no formal and quantified treaty has ever been signed.
Moreover, despite the provided help, despite the price paid by the people of Arcoscephale, while we were struggling against the last hordes of Gath, the Greedy Shrimps occupied some of our former lands and refused to give them back to us.
We saw that our help, our sacrifices were not rewarded in return.
We cried and mourned and moaned for our Lost lands.
We drunk a whole bunch of Holy Whisky Barrels along with our priestresses but no way, the offense was too rude.
Unfortunately, as you mostly live under the seas, the Three Thousand Inc. Cats are almost useless to blame such a piracy. The war was then the only solution.
Wasn't it ?
Long Live the Tuna Eaters !

As for Atlantis, please iamofage, may I remind you that the first post quoted :
If you join this game, it is expected that you play it to the end, or that you find a sub that takes over for you.
You should find a sub or to set the nation to IA. Stalling the former #1 nation is just plain ridiculous and may spoil the game for the other players.
I suggest to delay the next turn for a few days while this subbing affair is solved.

Don't worry about this, Hadrian. It belongs to the players leaving the game to find subs for their nations, not to the game admin. Unfortunately, this basic rule has been ignored by some folks and their lazziness now forces the admin to get involved in that Quest :bug: ...
NB : I created a thread to find a sub for Atlantis. You may want to give your PM address there if you're back so the volunteers will not contact Wrana instead of you.

But i will put up a sub request for mictlan, you never know who will sign up.

@ All - Very sorry to ask for the delay, having a very busy week in RL, and as such I haven't had time to do much other than open the turn file yet, so have little to no chance of making tomorrows deadline :( And given the nature of the position, and with it being my first turn, it'd be great if I could get a full weekend (yippee, weekend means no work :)) to assess the position, and get fully clued-up with regards both the postion, and the overall game/diplomatic situation.

TC are only being set AI this turn, so is there any reason a sub isn't being looked for instead? Since I can't see too much point personally in continuing if we have to lose such an important nation to the AI.
There seems to be a lot of eager new players around these days, and while the position is far from one I'd want a new player to sub into, since the war with Midgard will likely mean the learning curve will have to be negotiated while similtaniously taking a blood bath. Even this has to be preferable to the AI rearing its unwanted head. So trying to find a sub probably isn't a completely fruitless exercise (unless none of the new players want a taste of late-game action)
As a last resort, and if delaying the game again is undesirable, can I suggest to find someone to amend TC's orders to a 'doing nothing/stale' turn rather than setting to AI. Since the latter is rather permanent after all.
Or of course just say well played, and award the game to Isokron. (although I'm happy to keep playing if others are, but maybe less so if TC are lost to the AI, as then it seems a lot less worth continuing IMO. But I still will of course if others are happy to)

@ All - Hadrian has given me the admin password, and I've just posted for a sub. Fingers crossed one shows up :)

Many thanks for that Herode, as the further and wider the request is shouted, the better chance a sub can be found :)

Ok guys, we need a decision within the next ~12 hours regarding TC. Assuming no sub comes along in that time (fingers not un-crossed on that yet though), then we have two options that I can see.
1 - Allow TC to be turned AI.
2 - Get someone to amend the orders to an effective stale turn.
The immediate outcome of the first option is pretty obvious. The second option gives TC another stale, but does keep the nation 'open' for a sub to be found.
Personally, I don't feel this is 'my game' yet, having only subbed in 2 turns ago. So I don't want to make a decision myself that will affect several months of work by the rest of you, and without a sub, there is no 'good' option for TC that I can see. So some feedback from you all would certainly be appreciated :) But my own take is that if TC is lost to the AI or staling, then this game is over, and we may as well save time by crowning the worthy winner now.
With regards the TC-sub position, can I suggest that if any one of you here really wants to keep this game going, then you need to get active with sorting the TC-sub situation out. As most of you know, I subbed in here as part of a sub-swap deal to solve a subbing problem I had in another game I was playing. So if the continuation of this game means anything to anyone here, then might I suggest you find a game that needs a sub, and offer to do the same.

Ok everyone, I've managed to find a sub for TC, with Maerlande very kindly agreeing to help us all out by taking up the stewardship. So can you please all thank Maerlande when you see him for saving TC from the AI. (thanks Maerlande :))
Since that dark weekend in early May though, Maerlande is no longer on these forums. So if you want to arrange diplomacy with him, you either need to head over to the IRC channel (details are in the FAQ), or PM him over at the Dom3mods forum...
http://z7.invisionfree.com/Dom3mods
I've also added 12 hours to the turn to allow Maerlande time to settle in.
Think that's all for know :)

I think you should give him more time if he wants it, TC is in quite a complicated situation at the moment from what I can tell.

No fears :) I'm in good touch with Maerlande, and offered him all the time he needs. But so far he has only asked for 12 hours, as he said he had good free time today to settle into his new surroundings.
But I will of course extend the timer wthout question if he needs the extra time.
@ All - You might want to let Maerlande know (in-game message, IRC chat, Dom3mods PM) about whatever diplo agreements you might have with him. Some are likely obvious if he has occupied lands :) but other relations will be unknown to him. So it'd be great if you can let him know somehow of any diplo info he needs to know.

@ All - I added a further 6 hours to the timer for Maerlande.
I've also PM-ed Graeme Dice, as his turn is still missing, and he would have staled several times had the game seen regular hostings over the past week. Hopefully he's still with us, but I'll let you all know should I learn otherwise. (I won't be delaying the game for him though unless he asks, as ~10 days without a hosting means this game needs to host asap to get some momentum going again)

Ok folks, I have no idea what happened there. I forced the hosting for turn 76 (due to the usual Atlantis reasons), and the llamaserver appears to have hosted 2 turns in a row for some reason. I only got sent turn 78 as well (not sure if any of you got sent turn 77 or not)
I'll wait a few moments for the llamaserver to come to its senses, and to clear out any kinks, then roll the turn back to turn 77 where it should be.
Fingers crossed that a jinx isn't creeping into this game.
Edit - Please don't open those turn 78 files. You likely won't gain much info, but whatever can be gained, shouldn't be gained. Good sportsmanship and all that :)
Edit 2 - I've asked the llamaserver to roll the turn back, but so far it doesn't seem to be cooperating :(
Edit 3 - Ok, it appears we're back in business :) as a turn 77 file should have just appeared in your in-boxes. Please let me know if you spot any weirdness, so an attempt to fix it can be made asap.
Otherwise, lets get this game going again :)

I just found about about a death in my close family, so I'm not going to be around for a few days to sort admin stuff out with this game. The current turn is due to host shortly, but after that Hadrian is going to need to step back in to sort admin stuff out until my return, which is likely to be sometime towards the end of next week.

Just paying a quick flying visit (while I'm at work) before I disappear again for a few days.
I've added 96 hours for myself then (thanks for the understanding all) to push the deadline back to Friday. Which I think should be enough time for me.

@ All
Thanks for understanding about the delay I needed to sort out my sudden RL affairs. Very much appreciated.
I should be ok to meet the current deadline, although not 100% sure yet until I get into work tomorrow and find out how many cock-ups were made while I was away. Still several other turns yet to be submitted though.
And has anyone seen Hadrian anywhere? Anyone playing in other games with him? Since he staled the last turn here, and still nothing submitted for the current turn yet. I'll likely chase this up tomorrow if no posts on the matter appear in the meantime. (and after I have a good sleep since I'm shattered)

Sorry everyone, I've had to grab an extra 4 hours here. There are still a few things to do on my turn (plus still no sign or word from Hadrian), and all my Dom time is currently being consumed by the llamaserver's voracious appetite for eating the NWA game whenever it gets started. Plus most of the test games I've started since while trying to bug hunt the problem. (and I really want to get the NWA started asap, as it's been in limbo far too long).
So apologies again that my admin duties elsewhere are interfering with my playing here. (think this is the first time my admin duties have ever interfered with my playing, despite all the games I've admined. Had to happen one day I guess :()

I've just heard from Hadrian, and he is still with us :) Seem like he just had some time problems over the last week.
So, I think we are good for trying to get some sort of momentum going here now. (unless anyone else suddenly wants to drop :( :(). The next turn is due to host in around ~23hours, so I hope you are all good for getting your turns in by then. I will of course delay if anyone needs it, but it would be good to get at least a few turns done on schedule if possible.

That's probably a good idea, and I don't see why not. I'll wait until the turn hosts to hear any objections to 24h reminders. Otherwise I'll do the switch once the turn hosts tomorrow. (plus if I change it to 24h now, the 12h reminders for this turn likely won't be sent)

Utgard stalling again. I knew he would eventually acknowledge the attack against poor Arcoscephale was a fatal mistake.
Now, my boy, let's make peace. I will only claim half of your lands for the price of your repentance.

Utgard stalling again.
Yes, that is a little annoying I must admit. I guess Hadrian hasn't sorted his time issues out yet. Sadly I wasn't near a computer around hosting time either :( or I'd likely have added a few hours to try and prevent this stale (since 3 consecutive stales is not what Utgard or this game needs at all)
Guess we'll just wait until Hadrian appears again to let us know what his situation is.
--------------------------
Also, since there were no objections, I have increased the reminder email notifications to 24hours.

Thanks for letting us know your situation Hadrian. Much appreciated. Please let me know if you need an extension for any reason (or just extend yourself of course :))
Although I might have to start considering a sub if you stale again (or return to talk of deciding the game), since your nation seems to be suffering badly right now without regular guidance, and is a fairly pivotal nation for the balance of the game. (as all the remaining nations are). Plus nobody wants to fight a staling nation :( so it's not fair or fun on the players you're currently at war with.

Yes, I was hoping to learn some things, but mostly I squandered my opportunities to learn by not giving gems to my mages scripted to use them.
Anyway, most of my interesting stuff is gone now and Midgard is only stronger. At least my turns will be shorter now!

@ All
Don't put too much time into the new turn, as I'm now calling for a concession to Midgard / Isokron, as IMO the game is all but over as a contest (and has been for many turns if everyone is honest). Plus Utgard staled yet again, and TC as well :( (completely unintentionally, and due to a hectic day it seems (taken from a PM I had from Maerlande))
I was going to call for a vote last turn, but I thought I'd give one turn of Utterdark being up to see if anyone could conduct a grand plan using it. But all the important graphs still continue heading up for Midgard, and all nations except Mictlan are likely to run out of Dom in a few turns time anyway. (so even if Midgard could be stopped in a military sense, their dom push can't be).
So I will put it to the vote now to concede this game to Midgard / Isokron. I see no nation as being in second place, as every nation except Midgard is just "in the pack" many miles behind the leader. So all nations (apart from Midgard of course) get an equal vote (if there was a clear 2nd nation close behind Midgard and challenging them for the win, then they might have had a veto of some sort. But there isn't one).
So please can everyone cast their vote on conceding to Midgard. Current votes are. (I guess a tied vote will have to mean continue. Stupid even numbers)
Calahan / Mictlan - Yes
Maerlande / TC - ???
Graeme Dice / Jomon - ???
Hadrain / Utgard - ???
Stagger Lee / Bogarus - ???
Herode / Arco - ???
Vote is currently 1-0 in favour of conceding

Thanks you all for voting (and apologies to Graeme Dice for closing the polling booth before he cast his vote).
So with a unanimous 100% of the vote, I hereby declare Midgard / Isokron as the very worthy winner of the Pyrite game.
Well played again Isokron, you'll be in double figures on the win count soon I believe. (if this game hasn't already put you there)
Thanks to everyone who played, and to all the invaluable subs who agreed to sub into the game to save various nations from AI, and the game itself from becoming an AI joke fest. (hey, I just thanked myself, awesome :))
Please let me know if anyone wishes to keep the game running for any reason (fight you want to test, a hidden site you know was there that you couldn't find and now want to Acashic Record it to learn what it was etc etc.). If not, then I will take the game down off the llamaserver in around 24 hours.
Congratulations again Isokron on another finely played game

Ok thanks for the game everyone, although I think you somewhat overestimated my power. With utterdark down my big lead in gold was meaningless and in gems you had more than twice my income together, not sure about blood where I had about 150 per turn on average.
I really must try to get that vampire+gatestone combo in some other game, you all just gave up sending SCs into my dominion after a while :)

Well then, congrats to the True God ! Your stats curves looked really unbeatable, Isokron.
My final thanks to Hadrian who launched this funny game, and to all the players and subbers here whose tenacity saved Pyrite from a pityful fate. Special thanks to Calahan who subbed a major nation and our admin at once (not accounting his helpful interventions on other games) ! You will therefore be known for aeons as our Light in the Bailing Darknesses, the Ruler of Many Tricks, the Stale Killer, the Voice of Eternal Adminity :p
See you later on other battlefields, gentlemen !
