thanks for your reply. the file i'm looking for goes back to the start of SPWW2. i still have the game sp2ww2 in my archives and would like it to remind me of changes made at that time.
hopefully some one will have the file.

What sort of file is this? Is it an OOB mod, a graphics mod, scenarios?

sqms

hi Cross
this file adds LBM files, changes MOBs and modifies SHP files. Kluas MB and Oleg Bazhenov did something similar to SPww2v2 by altering MOB files for germany and russia

Although the site is mostly obsolete, it is still up and running.

I checked and 4 new members have joined that 'group/site' this month.

You could try over at the Blitz:

http://www.theblitz.org/message_boards/forumdisplay.php?fid=14

There's some players there who have been playing since the DOS days.

Good luck

Hey, I would like to reinstall ALL Steel Panthers versions into my PC and I think that I have only SP2WW2 (the earliest WW2-version into SP2) left. So, could anyone know where to d/l that? I use Dosbox to get all DOS-based SP games to work with Windows 7...

PS. I would want to have original SPMBT (DOS-version) too! So, if anyone have it, upload both into some server with d/l link please

Thanks in advance,
Warhero

I think that I have only SP2WW2 (the earliest WW2-version into SP2) left. So, could anyone know where to d/l that?

This is the first one SP2WW2 from 1998. I hope it is okay for me to upload it here?

This must be extracted over an existing and clean Steel Panthers 2 installation to work. Also original SP2 cd must be in cd drive to play it.

There are only three scenatrios included, but random battles can be created for more ww2 action. :smirk:

Tip: I had game crashes until I turned fast artillery on. Also if you have the file STEEL.PRF in your Steel2\save folder deleteting it before staring sp2ww2 may be wise to reset game options and avoid any errors.

A small update:

It was not the fast artillery that caused crashes but the STEEL.PRF file.

Also the three ww2 scenarios are named:
-The Raiders Ride to Work
-Hill 621
-Mersa El Braga

Hmm I have problem with Russo-German mod. I have copied icons and pics but I can't get icons.exe to work in my Windows 7 (via Dosbox)... Any help?

You would probably need SPWW2 version 2.0 or 2.2 (from 1999) to get that ancient Russo-German mod working since it was designed for those early versions.

Warhero
October 11th, 2012, 06:50 AM
Ok. I didn't thought that... Well I'll consider installing earlier version only for 1 mod. Perhaps it's not worth of it? Thanks anyway.

Here's the old Wargamer site for the mod, however the download link doesn't work.

Hi again,

Does anybody have any spww2 v.2.2 files somewhere? I have recently tried to search via Google around internet but no success:(... I would like to see those great russo-german icons once again (if any way possible). Can anybody help?

Thanks in advance,
Warhero

I have SPWW2 ver 1.2

It's from 17th June 1996

I do not have ver 2.2
But if you think 1.2 has what you're looking for, I could send you the icon SHP files.

Thanks Cross but I have only SPWW2 v.7.1 and I'm not sure will it work properly with those icons... I saw that info file in Russo-German mod which said that it's meant into version 2.2 (it has own exe-file too) . I'm quite sure that nobody got it work in later versions.

Hi.
I have the following files:
spww207 (29MB) (Would not start the program after I installed it, even if it looked ok. My old install wanted SP2 or SP3 CD).
spww2update207
spww2v2.2b (zip)
spww2v22upgrade

I have a directory with what I think is a running Russo-German edition, but it needs a SP2/SP3-CD, which I don't have at the moment. They are packed in a box in my fathers garage.

Hmm Halstein could you upload those SPWW207, update and v.2.2 files into somewhere (File Factory, Badongo for example)? I'm not sure about v.2.22...

I would appreciate it:). It could be nice to see again those icons after many years;)...

Hi.
I have ziped the files you need. Try downloading from:
http://www.filefactory.com/file/2w22v42p07u9/n/spww2_zip

Also, I decided to look some more for my SP2 CD, and found it. I have a working version of the Russo-German edition om my PC :).

Not sure how to install, so you might have to fiddle a bit.

Hope it is ok that I share the old files :angel.

Halstein.

Just so long as you don't share or link to the "Russo German" thing on these forums.

We had our issues with the developers of that mod way back in the day, cant recall the details. But its not welcome here.

Hi.
Too late to edit my original post, so here is a new one. A link that works:
http://www.filefactory.com/file/2f4co5g9nart/spww2.zip

It contains the spww2v2.07 install, and the v2.2b update. I managed to get a running install. I think you must have a SP2 or SP3-CD in your computer when installing and when playing.

Hmm seems to be that I must raise hand up:(... I have tried many many times to get Dosbox to identify my cdrom drive but no success. I have windows 7 and because that I can't get that 2.07 version be updated into 2.2b... Any help? Or should I just forget whole thing?

To install the v2.2b update, I had to type the path manually in the installer. I can't help you with Dosbox or Win7, as I use XP. My PC went "bang" about a month ago, and I had to cannibalize a power-supply from an old work computer. The XP-box I have, was bought with an eye to playing DOS-games, because this was before the days of WinSPWW2.

I have a working SP1, and man, have the game gone a long way!

I finally found this old topic again;). Well, I had HD crash recently and all my SP games were lost:(... I have reinstalled almost all SP's back into new HD. But I have some things what I miss:
1. Dos SPWW2 v.2.2b (with or without Russo-German edition, no matter when it works;))
2. Viet War Pack for dos SPMBT v.3.1
3. SP2WW2
(4. working SP2 v.1.1, I have only v.1.0 which works, I don't know why I can't get 1.0 be updated into 1.1 any way)

Could anyone upload even 1 of these somewhere? I would appreciate and be very thankful!

Thanks in advance,
Warhero

Sorry, I can't help with this anymore, as I no longer can find these files on my present computer. My old computer died, and I managed to save about 90% of it's content, but unfortunately no SP-content.

Bold means unread (with new comments) rather than "active" - so if you have been here and read it, then it will not appear as bold to you.

Posting here; because I ran across this while looking at the old Wargamer archives

https://web.archive.org/web/20001119043400/http://www.wargamer.com/sp2_ww2/default.asp

Man, there were a LOT of SP related modding jobs going on back then.

Like this old Infantry-centric mod for SP1:
