View Full Version : Llamaserver bug?

Dear forum members,
it is now the 3rd time that llamaserver decides to erase my game as soon as it is about to start.

I tried with the Land of Legends (Crusaders) and the Land of Legends maps.

In both cases the game just didn't start and got ERASED from the server.

Now, is this a common bug? Is it a common bug regarding "some maps"? If that is the case, I'd put some kind of warning on llamaserver starting page.

Anyway, now that we're at it, if you can suggest a good 6-8 players non-wraparound map that would be great. :)

Don't use files with spaces in the names.

I can't find any space in the landoflegends.map filename

Oh, there can't be spaces in the name of the game either.

The game was called Caduta3

Can it be that the landoflegends.map has got a different filename STORED on llamaserver? Any way to check that?

Why doesn't llamabeast remove the bugged maps?

If he needs help, I think a lot of members of this community would be glad to help!

I bet the name of the tga file has a space in it.

It would be a good idea to remove the bugged maps, yes. Good thinking.

The server is designed not to allow them to be uploaded in the first place, but there is some kind of bug that allows them to be uploaded anyway (though not for me when I test it). I *really* should fix that, as it accounts for almost all the reported llamaserver errors.

Sorry it caused you inconvenience. Sounds frustrating.

Do you mean on your server? Because here, locally, I have
landoflegends.tga

:(

Not to mention sort the maps alphabetically, but I can't believe this issue hasn't been raised before soooo.... :)

As I said, if there's some way I could help, I would.

It was especially frustrating because the game was called Caduta3 because that was the third time we tried. ANother problem is that most of the players in that game aren't expert, so they're getting a very bad first impression of the server and of the game due to that, which is a shame, because llamaserver is a great resource and Dom3 a great game :)

If you could check specifically what's wrong in the land of legends map, at least I'd have some "way" to spot if a map "could" be defective or not, because the "space" issue doesn't seem to be the case here.

DeSangre - just spotted this again; sorry, I had missed your reply. I will look into it. Don't want to give new players a bad impression!

The maps aren't alphabetical, but in the order that they were uploaded. Had never occurred to me to make them alphabetical, but I suppose there is something to be said for that.

If it is going to be by date, could you reverse it?
One of the complaints I have against the Dom3 UI is its tendency to sort by date without reversing. After years of playing Dom3 the lists have gotten long. I dont WANT the oldest game, I dont WANT the oldest mod, I dont WANT the oldest original maps. I usually want the latest game, the latest map, the mod I just downloaded to try out or at least the latest version of my favorite one. I get tired of scrolling for it.

Im thinking that in the case of your server it might be the same. I see many mods and maps created which are instantly used in some game. So maybe the latest uploads first would be usable.

Okay, I have no idea how the "landoflegends.map" ended up listed on the server, as it doesn't even have a copy of the map, and nor do I, and in fact I can't even obviously find a copy. Do you have a copy?

The Crusaders map would have failed as it was specific to a particular set of nations - it was only valid for the game Crusaders.

@ llamabeast.

Did you get my PM about the llamaserver internal clock being out of synch again? (it appears to be the same problem as the one a few months back, which results in games potentially hosting earlier than expected)

Here's a current snapshot of the problem.

Calahan - thanks for the reminder. Too late for me to look at it tonight, but I will try to tomorrow. Yes, I got the PM, which I will look over again. The sad(?) fact is that I only sit at my computer at home once a week or so, and generally seem to be short of time so it can be helpful to be reminded of things.

That's cool llama. Just checking you got the PM :)

Since I sometimes forget if I've actually done something, or was just intending to do it. Which in this case is made harder by there being no auto-save of sent PM's :( (so wasn't 100% sure if I had told you about the problem or not)

Well llama, it seems like the game started! :D So I'm guessing you found a copy of the map after all! Let's hope everything goes fine, and thanks again for your support!

The map not being on server is a weird error though, I'd expect some check were in place to ensure that a listed map had a .map equivalent stored.

llamabeast

There is a check! Or rather, a map can't get listed without having been uploaded. So goodness knows how that happened.

Yep, I just sent you a PM about the game starting. Hopefully everything will work okay - let me know if you have any problems.

So, um... it seems I may have inadvertently broken the llamaserver by creating a game using a mod with the single age mod rolled into it. I had no idea that was a problem.... If it is indeed the case that I broke the server, I most humbly apologize.

Server is definitely broken. I'm in two games that should have theoretically hosted - they have not done so.

It have been like this for half day, so it seems server could still recieve file, yet cannot host?

Bump!

Seems no games are hosting, help!

Preponderance 2 disappeared from llamaserver some time ago, and it had no errors, it was just accepting pretenders.

Dystopia may have hosted not looking at timer really, without all turns in [it did not send any reminders before hosting certainly].

It looks like llamaserver is not accepting turn files at all, can you postpone all games by 24h, so it does not stale people? [I got staled in Dystopia, so it does not postpone games automatically either]

llamabeast

Think it is working again now Zeldor. Please let me know if it's not.

Thanks, Llama! You should be getting paid (you catch all the flack when there are hiccups, and get no real reward, besides "thanks", for your free service).

Total agreement.
Scroll down to the bottom of that first screen on LLama Server and there is a "donate" button. :)
