Do the Boots of Stone (and "stoneskin" for that matter) give a unit the #stone-being tag? Or do they in any way make their user immune to the stone sword/petrify?

I searched the threads but the only one I could find about the stone sword was a bit dated and didn't answer my question anyway.

I seriously doubt it. It's easily testable - just mod a creature with small MR and give it the boots.

no. look back a few pages and you will see a thread listing all of the units with stone being tag.

No. Your skin turns to stone for stoneskin. You turn entirely into a pile of rock for stone being/petrify.

ahhh, thanks for the confirmation. I kinda doubted the boots would give a unit the stonebeing tag.

In fact, I don't know if the game mechanics even allow for an item to give a creature new tags like that.

Here's the thread Rytek mentioned, BTW:

They do not. To change unit attributes like that, you'd need to change the base unit type; offhand the only way to do that is via the spells Transformation, Ritual of Rebirth, Twiceborn, and Life After Death, or via the artifact items Pebble Skin Suit and The Ankh. None of those results in a base unit with "stonebeing" tag.

or the amulet of lycanthropy...still not made of stone, though.
