Crumble only does damage if you do net damage to the fort meaning your sieging power is greater than the defenders repairing power. This is totally different than the spell description of doing 150 damage and very annoying. If I could damage the stupid fort I wouldn't need crumble...

That crumble is bugged is well known. But you're wrong as to how its bugged - it totally destroys any wall its cast on, not merely 150 damage.
Of course, then attacker/defender effects are applied afterwards, which is why you feel like you didn't make progress, because as the attacker you can't see the actual state of the walls, and the defender is repairing them faster than you can destroy them. (Crumble's effect happens during the magic phase, armies repair and destroy sometime towards the end of the turn).
Crumble is supposed to make sieges go faster, not help you siege walls you can't otherwise break.

Of course, it'll also damage the army inside the castle walls. So if you spam enough crumbles, you might make headway after all.

Sorry for the double post in the wrong section. This is what I get for posting late at night after drinking.
Would it be possible for cruble to do damage during the siege phase? It would then be a more balanced spell. Instead of effectively doing maximum damage if you are net one sieging vs rebuilding and no damage if you are -1 sieging vs rebuilding, which seems really lame.
Could a mod move this to the right section? Thanks.
