View Full Version : Undead being "fixed" at the Lab

Under the description for the ability of "Undead" mentions that units with that ability cannot be healed except when they are at a Lab. I have tried parking units with afflictions in lands with labs, but don't know how to repair them.
I did a forum search, but didn't come up with much. Mainly a problem with undead getting diseased and not being able to heal them without an artifact or some random location.
Is it true? That would mean total failure for all of those melee undead heroes (including undead SCs).

By healing, the tag is referring to the natural recovery of hitpoints that occurs after a battle for most units. Afflictions are an entirely different thing and can only naturally be healed by units that have either the Recuperation ability, or are Immortal. Otherwise you'll have to forge the chalice, cast gift of health, or find a commander with the Healer ability who can heal the afflictions of units in the same province with it.
Disease is actually not a problem for undead, as aside from certain buggy situations they completely ignore the effects of the Disease affliction.

This is why people push so hard to get the Chalice or Gift of Health. Most Tartarians arrive with the feebleminded affliction and these are the only ways to heal them.

undeads get diseased but it actually does nothing to them, as undeads are already dead to begin with... so don't worry about the lose 1hp/turn until death from disease. however other afflictions do affect your undeads just like normal troops, which is why Gift of Health(enchantment6 nature global) and The Chalice(artifact) are very sought after, as most nations use Tartarians(from the conjuration9 D7 spell Tartarian Gate) and these have a tendency to arrive with afflictions, most annoying ones being feeblemind, blind and mute.

Note that undead can also ignore fatigue causing afflictions (like chest wound) do a degree too, as their melee fatigue will still be 0 no matter what. (they still suffer from it when casting spells though)

well thats about 99% true. Disease also makes you slightly more susceptible to the decay spell, even if you are undead.
Not that this is any great shakes against an undead.

undeads can't decay either, they're well past that stage... ;) I'm not sure whether diseased undeads are more susceptible to other injuries like other diseased troops, shouldn't be but I'm not 100% certain.

I thought they were in a constant state of decay, if they were past the stage of decay there'd be nothing left but worm droppings.

The undead could easily have their own kind of diseases. Like a mould quickly eating away their dead flesh. Maggot infestation etc :)
