I am currently playing as LA Ermor on a large map with 5 mighty AI. I came into the computer players in the early mid-game, but had so many units, they choose to attack each other instead of me. I was fine with this, since I wanted to tech up and explore LA Ermor.

I have my scales maxed out for random events, all of my population is dead, and random events rarely happen anymore. I noticed this because I only have 1 copper mine and gold is getting tight.

I used to get free handfulls of gems every turn, now nothing.

Does anyone know what causes the random evens to slack off?

You should be getting around 3 a turn in the late game. How many are you getting?

1 random every 4-5 turns.

Is your dominion over all of your provinces, or are most of your provinces in enemy dominion?

All friendly Dom. Just some recently former Indy provinces without good Dom.

I started another game as LA Ernor, this time with 16 other AI. Just got to my first level 8 tech, so solidly mid-game. I have positive Dom in my lands, the random events have slowed down again. About 1 every other turn. In the beginning of the game it was about 3 random events every turn. Over-all the Dom is better in my provinces now then in the early game, but I get less events.

So...just to be sure, when you say you have your dominion "scales maxed out for random events" - that means Luck 3 Turmoil 3, right?

I wonder if it is related to population. Maybe certain events only happen when there is an adequate population in the provinces.

Correct.
