the free v3.26 patch/upgrade is now available for download at
http://www.shrapnelgames.com/Illwinter/DOM3/DOM3_page.html

Dom3 patch v3.25 was skipped.

Please try not to kick off hosting on any games until you are sure that the HOST and all of the PLAYERS are using the same version.

Cheers for the heads up Gandalf and cheers to the programmers who support this game, number one PC game on the market :)

Nice! :) Talk about excellent support to a game that has been released years ago :)

I can add Underwater units to a faction! Awesome! Can we do underwater defense yet? Got to go mod some more...

Sadly, I don't think we have underwater PD commands yet. When the next patch rolls around (whenever that will be), I'll lobby for it to be included.

Wait, that this mean a water nation can be made now?

You could make water nations before, but you couldn't make a hybrid that starts on land, like LA Jomon and LA Atlantis. Those both have special units that you can produce underwater. Hopefully this resolves that.

Lobby for darkness in caves (Not just the castles) and #homesick too please :)

Does Darkness apply in cave forts as of now? Like if my capital is a "Cave City" in a mountaineous province?

For those who loved the "no score graphs" games because it boosted the need to use scouts and information spells, the newly fixed "no nation info" should be checked out. At first glance it seems to make knowing anything about another nations pretender also require scouting it out.

IIRC darkness has worked in cave forts before this. Or my memory is playing tricks on me. In any case, there were no darkness related fixes in this patch, so there is no working autodarkness in cave provinces.

Cave forts were already dark.

Is there any notable difference in the effectiveness of fear, now that it isn't parried by shields?

Hello:

Newbie question: Do I need to download just patch version 3.26? Or do I need previous patches? Thank you very much.

Sergi

Just 3.26. If you intend to do mods, download the modding manual too if you're on Windows, because it was accidentally left out of the Windows patch.

Is it only working for "Cave City" or will any fort in a cave province have the darkness effect ?

I meant cave provinces.

Also, should the version still say "2.23b" on the start screen?

Hiya all. I'm kind of new here. I got this game from my brother (who got it for his Birthday ~4 months back, didn't like it, and then gave it to me when he next saw me (we live in different cities)). I installed it and started playing and think it's pretty darn good (though I'm certainly not yet).

I have a small problem though. The game runs fine normally, but when I patch to version 3.26, it crashes whenever it tries to adjudicate a battle. My hunch is that it has something to do with the 4 year old Dell Inspiron 1501 (I know that it was mediocre upon release, and it's even more mediocre now) I'm running the game on (even the menu windows sometimes pause briefly while loading). I'm not very good with computers; generally I use CanIRunIt to figure out if I'm able to run a game. I have a hunch that my laptop would come up short if Dominions 3 was on their list.

Here are the specs, copied and pasted from a website. I unfortunately don't know enough to actually confirm their veracity.
* AMD Sempron 3500+ (1.8GHz/512Kb)
* 15.4" Ultrasharp WXGA display
* 512GB DDR2 SDRAM 533MHz (1 DIMM)
* ATI Xpress 1150 256MB HyperMemory (Integrated graphics)
* 60GB 5400RPM SATA Hard Drive
* 24x CD Burner/DVD Combo Drive
* 6-cell 53 WHr lithium-ion battery
* Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition
* Dell 1390 802.11g Mini Wireless Card

So, given this information, are there any patches that I should be able to run? (I don't really want to spend the next couple days uninstalling/reinstalling to try each patch...is there an easier way to unpatch/repatch?)

Thanks in advance!

Does it give you any kind of error message when it crashes?

Nope, just stops. If I alt-tab out, I get the standard "this program has stopped responding." error message that Windows gives when a program freezes.

Would it be quick for you to start by uninstalling, re-installing, check whether works, apply patch, check again?

Hmmm, I'll give it another shot. None of my saved games involved anything other than me getting slaughtered. Thank you for the assistance.

Reinstalling/repatching still lead to crashing; on the move phase if I moved, on the combat phase if I stayed still and the AI initiated a combat.

Most likely something related with your CPU. Dominions_3 has a endless hunger for CPU and if your CPU can't handle being maxed out then it will crash. Remember a dual core will show 50% usage and a quad core will show 25% usage because the game is not multi-threaded.
My suggestion is run some performance tests which will max out your CPU... if problems occur then we know the reason.

Thank you. I can believe that this could be an issue, since my CPU usage does seem to go to 100% some of the time when I keep windows task manager up, and it generally hovers in the 70-90% range. I'm not really sure how to run the tests you mentioned, however.
