What are "clams"? I keep seeing the occasional reference to this word, and so far I've not been able to figure it out from whatever context it's in.

Clam of pearls.
Each turn this item is equipped it places one pearl gem in the inventory of the commander holding it.
Considered to be overpowered.
(There are three items which do the same and are not artifacts in vanilla (A game running without mods), the clam is the quickest and easiest to get. Construction 2).

If it works. So if I would win with skelly spam it would be dishonorable?
The problem with Clam spam is that is hard to counter (easy to move the clams around, hard to snipe away the clam holders), even harder to detect (doesn't show up in graphs), And is quick to reach the break even point. That makes it bad from a game design perspective.
Also a pearl is the most useful gem. One pearl is half any other gem, and thus 12,5 gold.
