The description says that this item does extra damage to smaller opponents... does this mean smaller than you, or is it a generic "small" size (I'd guess 1 or 2)?

[Sombrero] smaller than you.
[Calawank] see. insulting yourself to hide your true ID. text book deflection tactic
[Sombrero] It doesn't care how much smaller.
[Soyweiser] I assume smaller than you, but I wasn't sure.
[Sombrero] Just smaller (yes/no).
[Soyweiser] great.
So use it on a large guy. Hero blade (added in CBM does the opposite, so it does damage on larger beings, use it on markata).

I guess it'd mostly be useful in the arena, or for assassinations, since you can only really hammer at one little person at a time. You'd get swarmed, otherwise. Doesn't beat trample.

The way I look at it, if you have a large commander, you should be getting swarmed if you have a smart opponent, so better to be able to knock some skulls when they come at you :D

Or if your enemy uses Bane's as raiding thugs, drop a flying quickend sleeper with midgetmasher on them. SLEEPER MASH!

But they'll still get at you, since you can only kill one at a time.

In CBM 1.7 (haven't checked 1.8) it does AOE 1 damage like a fire/frost brand (but -15 damage). So, on a very large, very strong unit (e.g. an ettin) it can be quite effective.

the AoE is already in cbm 1.6 I think.
the -15 damage modifier is gigantic, with 25 str you only do 10 damage, doubled against smaller opponent, on a 2-handed weapon...
I'm unsure whether the damage is doubled before subtracting prot or if only the damage that goes through prot will double, anyone know?

Final, that I don't know, I would suspect before. But that is an assumption. Could you test it with the debug mode on?

[Sombre] Doubled before.
[Maerlande] But seriously, that midget masher thread is ****ing moronic.
[Trumanator] heh
[Maerlande] The goddamn thing is lethal.
[Maerlande] I know
[Maerlande] I beat the **** out of everything with it.
[Maerlande] And 5E const 0
[Maerlande] How can you go wrong?
[Sombre] Grump?
[Sombre] **** you!
[Maerlande] Haha!
[Sombre] Midget masher does wonders on several pretenders.
[Maerlande] Nice comeback.
[Maerlande] Yup
[Maerlande] For christ's sake.
[Sombre] But it is two handed.
[Sombre] People hate that.
[Maerlande] 5 damage AOE with fear is gruesome.
[Maerlande] Say a str 20 pretender
[Maerlande] Er actually that's 10 damage AOE
[Trumanator] risen oracle likes it
[Maerlande] I put it on a DoW
[Trumanator] heh
[Sombre] Lord of Rebirth.
[Maerlande] With a shield and another weapon
[Sombre] Any of the titans.
[Maerlande] ****ing sick man
[Trumanator] cyclops
[Maerlande] 27 Str
[Sombre] Yeah clops.
[Maerlande] Six 6
[Sombre] clops only needs a weapon.
[Maerlande] Yeah
[Sombre] Everything else is great.
[Maerlande] Stupid ****ers
[Trumanator] though I haven't seen a cyclops in AGES
filler because my message would other wise be to short.

First, it's AOE 1. Second, it gets through defense and ethereal screens, both of which destroy trampling attempts.

My first MP game back in cbm 1.6 had me test out 2 midget smasher to counter Eriu glamour thugs. They did not pop the mirror image.
I then made a test game and tested midget/ice/fire brand on non-immune mirror image thugs (all 0 prot air queens if you're curious, loaded with dual parrying knife and cat charm). notably, they also did not pop images or mistform. It took 10+ rounds before mist+image is popped in some cases.
I could only conclude that getting hit by an AoE dmg effect from a weapon goes through a physical dodge check (rather then AoE auto hit), but in actuality I don't know what the exact mechanic happening is. I assume but am unsure if things like shadow brand or stone sword works via a different mechanic.
If some vet can enlighten me that'd be great!
