I have returned from the jungles of Asia - more or less in one piece. What's been going on while I've been away? Any interesting developments?

Egypt is in turmoil and the Republican party is harping on about everybody wanting small government (god bless 'em ;) ) while actually wanting to create big government.

Hang on, were you talking about Dom 3 developments?

Hi Ironhawk! Great to see you back! Where have you been then?

There've been a couple of new versions of CBM while you've been away, the last one in particular has added a lot of new stuff. I guess the EDM was already out before you went (when did you leave?)?

Welcome back Ironhawk.

How long have you been clean of dominions? ;)

I have returned [...]

Ominous. Hatched any evil plots? Recovered powerful artefacts? Discovered the secrets of undeath?

Wellcome back in either case. :)

IH - i thought i sensed your reign of destruction in the Orient! :)

i have taken a dom3 hiatus that will probably last another 17 years (when my daughter is out of the house!) but i still poke around the forums every now and then.

I did hatch several evil plots in asia, most of which came to naught. However, I did gain +1N for all my exploration in the jungle wilds ;)

Good to be back. I think I might try to get in or sub into some games if any openings come up in the near future.

I'm so glad I didn't get a ban for that and that you took it in good humor.

Ironhawk, it's good to see you back! And you managed to bring DonCorazon out of the woodwork as well. :)

Hey DC, over the past few months I've been tentatively thinking about starting up a super slow game to try and tempt some of the old timers out of the closet. Not sure I can guarantee comedic value :( but a hosting schedule that starts at 72 hours, and peaks at a turn per week, might be enough to tingle the Dom urges of those oldey woldey veterans who do want to play the game, but don't anymore, as they know the constant danger of getting sucked back into the Dom 3 time vortex of spending hour(s) each and every day playing turns

So would you be interested in playing in that sort of game at all? As who knows, if the pace is slow enough, it might not end for 17 years  So if you survive the mid game, you could put in a strong finish once your temporary house guest moves out :D

Hey Cal, I'm down for a slow paced game as you outlined. Comedic value TBD but likely to be generated if you can round up the right mellow crew. Let me know and I'll track down my CD, pull the manual out of the basket next to the john and see if i can remember how to play!

Aethyr - good to see a familiar face. Not many folks i recognize around here anymore these days.

Super slow dom vets game sounds fun. If it be RAND as well then the turns would even be that much shorter due to no diplo. And it's always nice to speculate who plays what.

Calahan, please keep me in mind if you do decide to start a "slow" game, RAND or otherwise, I love to play. :)

Rand games can be fun but honestly that's exactly what I didn't have in mind as those games tend to be like hyper-competitive SP with game threads devoid of comedy. I guess I long for old days with games like Kingmaker with a lot of humorous banter and nobody taking themselves too seriously (well most people didn't anyways).

Ps maybe the winner of this game gets a negative three points towards the HOF to ensure thr right player population and adequate levels of lethargy.

Given the latest developments in that direction, sir, I must say that you at least don't play with small change.
