I was paying a scenario involving Australia vs. N. Vietnam. I had a rifle section in a M113 vehicle. When I moved I was attacked by a N. Vietnam unit. The next message I got said the rifle section in the M113 had been destroyed completely. How is this possible? Thanks for a great game.

The bosses might want more info.
1. Playing a Vietnam War era game? I would think yes based on
M113. M113 proved very vunerable back then.
2. Was the M113 unit destroyed as well? The crew?
3. Did the NVA unit have/or use Bazookas or RPGs?
4. Could the M113 also have hit a mine as well in that game?
5. What was the experience level of the infantry squad? This is a factor I've seen work against me in the past in an ambush situation or with a loaded APC on the move and an ATGW unit (Hidden.) firing and I lose them both. But in the cases involved where the units have been wiped out the experience levels have been low. On very few occasions I've seen experienced crews survive and the inexperienced squad killed with every combination in between. The games measures morale and suppression or if you will fright and panic. Ambushes are good for that even if the opposing unit out numbers the unit conducting the ambush in most cases they will have the upper hand.

Hope it helps some.

Regards,
Pat

Thanks. The M113 unit and crew was not destroyed. It did not hit a mine. I'm not really sure if the NVA unit used a RPG. I'm also not sure of the experience level for the unit. Could the concussion from an RPG cause the passengers to be killed? Thanks again.

I think from a quick look at the spaghetti, that passengers (even from a protected vehicle like an APC), may sometimes decide to dismount to defuse the ongoing assault - which can be good, or in your case, bad.

Something to investigate after the current patch is released.

Cheers

Not going to swear by this but vehicles carrying passengers sometimes survive attacks including gun attacks intact or possibly with minor damage not effecting weapons or mobility but the passengers are killed. Never took this as a problem does not happen often & assumed hit on a non vulnerable spot into the passenger compartment.
Happens with soft vehicles to truck can take fire & survive but its passengers are gone.

Yes, Imp - same thing happens to me. Very occasionally though - so acceptable as the fortune of war....
