Disbanding units?

Hi, is it possible to voluntarily disband units, or do I have to mount suicide attacks to do so? I can't find any reference in the manual.

It's commanders I want to unload. They can really clutter things up in late game.

And I hate playing as LA Ermor or Pangaea because of all the chaff getting spammed. I DONT NEED ANYMORE MAENADS!!!

That mod works really bad together with AI. They spend a lot of mage turns spamming your units, and then nothing happens. Kinds sucks.
