After a long hiatus, this is the second game I am organizing. Since the hassle of big and long games is something I can't stand, this will be a short and small game. My goal is to have this finished in a couple of months. Here are the game settings (additions/clarifications will be made as needed):
* LlamaServer
* CBM 1.84
* Middle Age
* 7 players
* Map: Spine of the World (http://dom3.servegame.com/wiki/Spine_of_the_World)
* Mercs are OK
* No diplomacy
* No score graphs
* Last pretender standing
* Turns every 24 hours first 10 turns adjusted as necessary afterwards
The rest of the settings will be standard or will be clarified if needed.
I will update this post with the nations as people sign up. We will start once we have all slots filled.
Players signed up:
* Tarrax - Bandar Log
* Bjaarn - Marignon
* Zachariah - Ermor
* Tratorix - Pangaea
* Raiel - Vanheim
* Valerius - Eriu
* LongBrodie - Shinuyama
If you're interested, show your interest by posting here.
Thanks.

About 8 provinces/player? Should be quite the knife fight. :p Please sign me up as Eriu.

It looks like we are just waiting for borongo (who had told me he wanted to join in the IRC channel). I told him to join the forum and post here but he didn't. Maybe he forgot about it. I will give him one more day and if he still doesn't show up, I will look for one more player.

I'd say pythium ain't showing up...

I agree. I changed the thread to recruiting again. Hopefully, we will get our final player in no time and we can start.

I don't have a ton of experience, but I'm not a terrible player. I'd like to play as Shinuyama if you'll have me. :)

So, I hope everyone is having a good game so far. Since we are getting close to turn 10, I thought I'd ask: Would you like to keep the 24h turn schedule or would you want to increase it to 36 or 48 hours? Let me know your opinions.
If I don't hear a lot of responses, I won't make any changes.

I vote for sticking with 24 hour hosting for now.
I really find these game settings interesting. I dislike micro but I've never played in a game with so few provinces/player. Even a final showdown between two players would only involve each controlling a couple dozen provinces, which sounds very promising.

That was my goal. I really dislike games where you end up with so many things to keep track of, you just don't care anymore or you end up playing a very inefficient game. Personally, I think even an end game with 20-25 provinces under your control is plenty to keep track of.

I like having a lot of stuff to deal with, but this is fun too. At least I won't have to worry about my endgame strategy.

Same here. These settings result in the kind of limited gold/gems you'd have in a "poor" game (though I haven't played one of those). The difference is the low province count means you'll encounter neighbors very fast and, I would expect, have a greater chance of early conflict. That's ok, though: just have to factor that into your planning.
At least I won't have to worry about my endgame strategy.
You're probably right about that (unless there's a lengthy stalemate/turtling phase). I'll be curious to see how high a research level the final players achieve. And to me this is another bonus as I don't like endgame magic/SCs as much as I do early/midgame stuff.

Tratorix, I noticed you staled a couple of times. Do you need more time for your turns?

It's been hectic for the last couple weeks, but I should be fine. Besides, I'm not really competitive, I'm just trying to be a pain before someone finishes me off.

It's cool. Just checking... We're all in it for fun after all. Let me know if you (or any others) need more time.

Anybody know what's up with the llamaserver? It hasn't hosted since Sunday.

It froze up and llamabeast is busy with some personal stuff. It'll probably be at least a few days before it's fixed.

Y'all may want to go to the game status page, and re-request your turn 39. I didn't receive mine automatically:

Well, this has been an interesting game, but I haven't been competitive for about 20 turns and playing has become a pain. So I'm setting myself AI, as it can probably control my horde of maenads just as well as I can.

Sorry to see you go, tratorix. I was curious just how long the two of us could last in the middle of the map. :)

I just noticed Van has staled two of the last three turns.
Tarrax

Yes, I just talked to him on IRC. He said he missed it barely in both instances. He indicated he might need some more time for his turns. I asked him how much he needs. We might increase the turn time a bit once we hear from him (and if nobody objects).

If there are no objections, switching to a 48 hour clock would be appreciated... we made it to turn 78 on 24 hours, but things are about to get... interesting.

That's fine with me. I postponed the current turn 12 hrs and changed the hosting to every 48 hrs. If anyone objects, let me know and we can discuss it.

Just as an FYI, I will be traveling this weekend so I am going to postpone the next turn (#85) 48 hours. Hopefully, it shouldn't take me that long but just in case...

FWIW I'm willing to concede to Van. Generally speaking I have no problem fighting it out to the end but if the game is already decided and we are just going through the motions it seems a waste of time to keep playing.

Well, I don't mind giving BL a chance at a big brawl if he wants, but I am rather certain I have this game in hand - and I've just about run out of sandbox ideas, so all that's left is alchemizing my 155 F to build 8 more temples and blood sac. Even if everything I have in the field could be defeated, I think I'd still pull off a domkill.

So I wanted to fight at least one big fight before I call this and I did. It didn't go well. :) Realistically, I think there is no way Vanheim would lose this. Since Valerius already said he would concede, I will declare this game finished.
Congratulations Raiel!
Thanks everyone for playing. Hope to see you again in Tarrax3!
