There was an epic battle with T'ien C'hi, which the noble denizens of Atlantis won through a combination of bravery and low cunning. It was like the movie 300, only more so.

In fairness, they ARE rather tasty. I mean, I only meant to have one (a lady has to watch her figure, after all), but they turned out to be rather like cornchips - you start with one, and next thing you know you've eaten the whole bowl (or liter, in this case).

I find that Lizard is a lot like Fish, and it is easier to have a good conversation with your meal first. Or, as we like to say in Ermor, "Once you eat C'tis you never go back".

My dream is to open a chain of fast food restaurants where a Lizard King will take your order, and then cook himself to your satisfaction while you wait.

I have sent a game related message few turns ago and still pending a reaction. His turns still come late even after interval increase, but given sufficient extensions he seems to post the turn eventually. Therefore, I conclude Heinrich is extremely busy lately and as you can check he was last online 5 days ago on these forums.
But we can't know for sure what's up 'till he tells us :)

Lung Drago
October 31st, 2011, 09:21 AM
This turn is due for 4th day now. That's double the usual time already (minus the time zone offset we have of course). I'll extend it for say another 36 hours for the last time and if Heinrich won't appear, we need to find a sub, a permanent one perhaps. We could even start to look for a sub right away so that we don't have more unneeded inactive days when transitioning. It's unfortunate, but there's not much else we can do from our position. We could be blindly extending for weeks when there's no word from him. Heinrich might have very well gave up for whatever reason (I suspect IRL issues) like Marignon (unlike Marignon though Pangaea stands firm). The game needs to keep going. This artificial prolonging makes Atlantis's demise painful. lol

The long war between Abyssia and Avalon has taken place almost entirely on 1 land.. and now its onto a second! So I don't think you could call it "running rampant across the continent" :p

It is only the heathen outsiders that call it "man", for in Avalon, men are just the playthings of the women (& girl) at the top. Unicorns and puppies have a higher status than men at present.

Dear Mother Fiommulga,
There were already rumors among the officials in the Court about an entry called "giant four armed wizards" or "warriors", ranking high in believed social hierarchy of Avalon. When your official announcement of this hierarchy arrived to me and my subordinates, it naturally leaked out almost instantly and now I observe a gossip explosion of unheard magnitude in the Imperial Court. Word is this particular entry refers to His Grace, Ariasa the Two-Spirited and Four-Handed. The tiring, neverending gossip I deal with regularly about the Emperor's true gender or his sexuality is nothing compared to this and I find myself unable to quell the excitement in the Court by usual means.
The Court right now is a mess and works at roughly 60% of it's normal rate, which is unacceptable. My Emperor is currently away from the Court, participating in war efforts, but I fear to even think about what would happen if the Court would be still in the state it is now when He returns. Therefore, I have a personal request for you. Is it possible to get a similar official writing about this particular subject, whoever the entry refers to, ideally with Lucy's handwritten signature, before my Emperor comes back home? Which, in fact, could happen at any time, as He will most likely teleport himself right on the sofa in his room for a cup of victor's tea (and scaring the yang out of me as always). I fear he will be very mad at me otherwise.

With regards,
Xie Lifen, Emperor's personal assistant

Evil opressors of poor fishworms!
Yes, they are poor indeed, I'll agree to that. Thankfully, His Grace is around to look into the matter! I have personally read the reports on the former fish people of Atlantis that are a part of the Empire for some time now, and they are assimilating with our culture well. They seem pleasantly surprised to learn that The Way very highly respects the element of water which is their home. Both us and them have a lot of learn from each other, and are enjoying the cooperation so far!
I regret that Fishworm (as Her Beautifulness Lucy so affectionately calls him) had to die (a second time) for this friendship to form. I really, really do regret that. I am sure the Emperor will see to it that his opponent in battle will get his honor immortalized, to ensure both the people of T'ien Ch'i and the native Atlanteans never forget his death was not in vain.

My rather creepy NKVD chief Lawrentji Berija wishes to inquire:
If the NKVD captures a male four armed wizard, cuts all of his arms off and then proceeds with a sex change operation, does his rank in the kingdom of Avalon rise of fall?

You might want to check Mr. Berija's home, especially his calendar. I have serious suspicions that his calendar might be going backwards and is in need of calibration or perhaps even demonic exorcism. Once Mr. Berija will be free from the evil grasp of that device, he will probably be in shock. I recommend tea for calming the mind, body, and soul.

It can be confirmed that Ariasa of Tien Chi is officially classified as a Giant Four Armed Wizard and thus holds high status in the land of Avalon.

Mother Fiommulga, Head Crone of Avalon
I am eternally grateful! Hopefully this will bring back peace to the halls of the Palace in no time. I am sorry for any inconvenience caused, but since the law allowing the Atlanteans into official positions was passed, the Court became somewhat volatile and the Internal Affairs are still adjusting to the change.

Signed,
Xie Lifen, Emperor's personal assistant

Actually, Mr. Berija wished to inquire wether the four armed male sorceror would gain a higher rank upon loosing his arms and being turned into a woman.
However, as the following news indicates, Mr. Berijas questions are no longer of great importance:

Breakings News!
A new Age in warfare?
Enterprising Mage Smiths in the Peoples Republic of Ulm have recently attempted to directly weaponize the thoughts and minds of our greatest thinkers against the nefarious Lizard of Ctiss! After a period in which Mr. Berija oversaw the project, he did, in a suprising turn of events not at all influenced by 2 divisions of Field Marshall Zhukovs troops aiming pointy Sticks at comrade Berijas head, volunteer his very own mind for the project. His brain was surgicially extracted in a complicated arcane ceremony involving large quantities of Wodka and Beer, loaded in a catapult and fired into the general direction of Ctiss`s Capital.
We eagerly await reports from the weapon field test.

As a "foody" with a fondness for exotic dishes and unusual ingredients, Lady Esmeralda of Ermor has undertaken to perform a taste-test of Wo-Man's social heirarchy for us. Her results to-date as shown below, as she works her way through the list:

Official Menu of Avalon

Goddesses - Quite tasty when served deep fried with a side order of squid. I could eat Lucy all day long! Wait, that didn't come out quite right. (Awkward pause follows.) Er, moving right along then...
Witches: Aged meat like this has a lot to recommend it when stewed for a long time, as it was in this classic Vindaloo curry. A bit too much bile and vinegar though. And Mother Fiommulga complained like you would not believe when we were stuffing her into the pot. With hindsight, she probably had a point about how we should have killed her before we cooked her. Live and learn!
Fishnanny (deceased): Average when alive, and death hasn't improved her much. Skip unless you are massively drunk after a night out on the town and fancy a challenge.
Giant four armed wizards: Very common, despite pretentions to royal status. Not bad wrapped in a bun with hot mustard and fried onions and consumed with a crisp Ulmish lager. We recommend earplugs though, as our specimen at the tasting kept bleating about being the Emperor of some tin pot country name C'ien T'hi or somesuch.
Other Women: We flayed the flesh off of these critters and had it as long pork steak tartare. Yummy! And the skeletal remains make great minions, once you've sucked the marrow out. Best with a cheeky Pinot, and band playing in the background to drown out the screams of the victims, er ingredients.
Unicorns: Why would anyone glue a carrot on a horses forhead and pretend it was some sort of magical beast? Made a pretty fine spicy sausage though, served with a garlic mash and side vegetables.

Stay tuned for more results next month, after we finish rounding up the sacred geese and the puppies and force feeding them to fatten up their livers!

IC:
Today, Ulm news transcribes the pre battle speech of Field Marshall of the Peoples Republic of Ulm, Georgy Zhukov!

"Soldiers of the People! Protectors of the revolution, liberators of the opressed, banes of tyrants, today, another vile beast shall fall before the armies of progress! The reactionary slaveholders may think that there swamps and miasma protect them, but progressive Ulmish science defeated their cowardly bioweapons! The backward beorgouais put trust in their god, but does their god trust itself? The good efforts of the NKVD, and the proclaimed inevitable victory of Marxism has already swayed many in this province away from this snotty gooseformed abomination. Indeed, many of the lizards rather worship the place on the citywall were comrade Berijas brain impacted then a weird smelly fire thing that cannot even decide wether it is dead or not!
The slaveholder think they can rely on hordes of shambling undead, but does Ulmish steel fear mere bones? What do the warriors of Ulm fear anyway? Death? As your can see and hear when you speak to your Bane comrades, Marxism can defeat death itself, and the best agents of the revolution are not to be stopped by somthing as trivial as death!
Will the goose risk itself in a battle where its rebirth is not assured?
Will it dare to lead from the front? Dare to face me in battle if I lead from the front like I always do?
Look upon them, and see the doubt in their snouts! Look upon them, see the fear that makes their tails quiver, look upon some of them, and see hope in their eyes, hope that the Peoples Republic succeeds, that it liberates them from their heinous overlords and brings justice and equality to them!

Today we fight, today we shall win once more!
To battle, Soldier of the People!

Madnesss? Thisss isss C'tissss!!!

I haven't watched the Ulm news broadcast today, but I suspect that there will be an emergency meeting of the central committee to revise growth estimates following the destruction of the "5 year stone industry plan"- a novel development initiative headed by an eponymous gargoyle, based on increasing stone reserves by turning enemies into stone via magic artifact. The loss of said artifact will no doubt prove a great embarrassment for the party leadership.

Mightypeon
November 7th, 2011, 05:50 AM
Yes, our 5 Year Stone industry plan was a novel and in many ways revolutionary initiative indeed. The next such plan will have greatly increased magic resistance. As soon as we get that Sword back that is :)

OOC: RAAAAGGGEEEE my SC getting punked by a Ctis Shaman that casted "Opposition" in turn 20 or so...

However, the party leadership is optimistic, in the 2 battles for Ctis, the most awesome and revolutionary forces of Ulm lost a total of 13 commanders and 150 troops, while the antiquated troops of Ctis were loosing a total of 28 commanders and 250 troops.

War changes people and gods alike.
When I marched on with the Imperial Army through the Empire to the coasts, when I took my first breath from the Barrel of Air and descended into the calm, grim depths of the underwater world, I knew I was going to learn there a lot. I could have read all the books on war waging, I could have consulted countless perfect, adamant strategies with the Generals beforehand and yet nothing could really prepare me for underwater fights. From obvious mistakes and left-overs of land doctrines (not much point in bringing archers under the waves, really) to the more subtle ones, this war took longer than I planned, but it was kind of expected. Atlantis lives up to the reputation of underwater nations and Shurp was a worthy, honorable opponent.
For this, I salute you.
I genuinely hope, for the sake of your two sacrifices, both in the name of your people, that they now may find a rightful, just place in our open-minded society and live even happier lives than before.
A final sentence? Having two heads, but a single spirit, is not necessarily better than having two spirits in a single head.
Now, let us be silent. The Atlanteans are performing rather interesting ceremony (http://youtu.be/i6L9Cbs0m_U).

Overfilling my own item lab is a bit of a problem though on occassion :)

I usually do a turn when it comes, leave it a bit, and look against at stuff a day later. Really reduced mages doing nothing/overforging/inefficiencies etc.

Its propably time to compose a Hymn for Ctis btw.

Marignons last stand was quite impressive, it could have even won if properly scripted, placed and equipped.

OOC: Thats kinda cute

From: Field Marshall Georgy Zhukov
To: Kingdom of Man, department of art

Greetings,

the Peoples Republic of Ulm wishes to state that there were no unicorns involved in the death of the rouge-flamebased-goose abonimation! It was all about bravery, Black Steel, Wodka, Explosions and more Wodka!
As a matter of fact! I have personally painted a more appropriate, progressive, historically dialectic and realistic picture which is

censored

Note: Dear Reader, the NKVD of the Peoples Republic of Ulm had to censor Field Marshal Zhukovs Painting as it seems to attract major void horrors due to its total non observance of geometrical and artistic norms. Really, I looked at it and suddenly the eater of gods appeared behind me, took the painting, made a cigarette out of it, smoked it and said "Mommy!" before disappearing. Our dear Field Marshall appears to have some disturbing talents indeed!

Markus Wolf, new head of the NKVD

Die Hard fanatics of the Barnacle Goose continue to hold out in Konburg despite all odds, and just fought off another Ermorian invasion without suffering significant losses of non summoned undead, braving both the unfriendly weather and the Ermorian Pretorian guard.
The rather unlikely mvp award of the lizards goes to the crack archery teams of the cities tower, who rather fatally blinded Ermors Legatus with a well aimed ballista shot right in the left eye, causing a general rout, just as Ermors 1rst Praetorian legion was finally breaking through the gate!

I'm at a loss for words. We are dealing with a golem or something. Not to mention his frequent stalling is killing his research for example. Yet we have no word from him and one may think he doesn't mind the stalls at all!
Eh, now I turned out somewhat cold. But what can we do, really? Pull out the ban-hammer? :D I mean I could certainly understand a guy who does not post on forums too much and simply isn't that much talkative, but common sense says if I stall frequently I will have a reason for it that I will share with the other players and/or ask for a pause or announce a need for a sub or pretty much any solution would be viable at this point, really. Right now, I have suspicions his keyboard might be broken or something. I hope he didn't break it in half back in the day where he was being trollfaced by the last remnants of Marignon. One month of absence on this forum, give a few days.

Not a lot of interest in the sub so far, the thread can be found here:

Pan has now staled three times in a row, with no indication that he has any interest in ever returning to the game. If we need to extend the turn again this time, and a sub has not come forward, I think we should turn him AI.

At this stage, I think we would gratefully accept any sub (others feel free to correct me if you have a different view).

Pan is in a fairly average position, so your extra experience would likely be useful in equalising their situation.

Thanks for volunteering :-) If no-one objects, we can organise to get the turn forwarded on to you and give you a suitable extension so that you can work out what is going on.

Ok, I'll send over my email address. I've been enjoying reading some of the previous posts in this thread. :)

Well, it appears the previous player password protected his pretender. Not sure if we can get around that.

Oh, God. I have no idea if I set a master password, but I deem it unlikely. Furthermore, I don't see option for defining it in the admin options.
It would require me to send the turn to myself so I would see exactly how Pangaea does and I deem that unfair, which is precisely why wouldn't I create a master password at all.

I am going to try anyways though. Pray now, whatever gods you worship! :(

EDIT: Nope, no master password. Oh my, who would think of passwording their pretender in PBEM. This is a bad situation. Unless Heinrich raises from the dead, there's not much that can be done. The password should be stored somewhere in the pretender file, but that is stored on llamserver and not being sent anywhere so only llama can get it.
However, llamserver sends a notice your email is no longer used for sending turns. That could be the raise dead ritual spell we need, since Heinrich should have that notice in mailbox right now and he did send a turn here and there, so he should be aware something is happening. Unless he smashed his screen in addition to his keyboard. Let us sit tight or dance around the fire in an atttempt to summon Heinrich the Silent.

If Pan is dead, and cannot be turned to AI, then I think we need a metagame solution.

If this is the situation, then I propose we:
- declare Pan to be in a state of civil war
- nullify any and all agreements that Pan had with its neighbors
- let the free for all, all you can eat commence!

BTW Lung Drago, I recently had a similar situation in another game, and had not set a master password. From now on, I will always set a master password! Live and learn, eh? :-)

Necromancy within reasonable limits (only with the consent of the to be reanimated) has long been a staple of the Republic!

There are some concerns about the civil and economic rights of reanimated intelligent beings, and some within the peoples Republic fear that growing numbers of intelligent, voting undead could upset the political system of the Peoples Republic. Others voice the concern considering the risk of scientific stagnation, or overpopulation.
The Peoples Republic is addressing these issues with a large degree of state control of Necromancy, as well as direct democracy elements involved in choosing persons to be reanimated.
While Undead citizens of Ulm enjoy full civil rights, their ecomic rights are a bit limited by a introduction of a fairly high toll tax on undead beings.

OC: Actually, managing a state with sentient undead/sentient revived immortal persons would be quite complicated, and would likely lead to stagnation. A ruling class of undead or future undead is another likely outcome if reanimations are controlled by the state or a ruling class.

Field Marshal Zhukov: "Greetings Fish Worm, how do you like Ulms most incredible and totally unbiased employment opportunities for Tartarians?"

Fishworm:"I am not Fishworm! No, I am Fishnanny! No, I am Fishworm! No! No, I am Fishworm!

Field Marshall Zhukov:"Did Man or Tien Chi hit your head a lot`?"

Fishworm:"Yes! No! Which head! Both Heads!"

Field Marshall Georgy Zhukov:"While your lower part looks quite Fishwormlike, you appear to have picked up hands, and a humanoid torso and head. How did this happen?

Fishworm: Fishnanny picked up Fishworm Half in Tartarus! No, Fishwormhalf picked up Fishnanny in Tartarus! Fu Fu Fu Fusion!

Field Marshall Zhukov: "And what about your new found magic abilities? From my best knowledge, neither Fishworm nor Fishnanny was very skilled in Fire magic..."

Fishworm:"Fishwormhalf Smart was! Hehe, more Smarter Fishwormhalf indeed it was, other half got back to Fishworm palace and was turned into Sashimi by big 4 armed guy! I have even more interesting news!
Just yesterday early in the morning, I marched from the Palace, headed to the marketplace, intending to shop for some shiny new shoes fitting an Emperor. Naturally, I embarked on this voyage this soon so that no random chick could buy them out right in front of my nose.
But, just as I stepped down the last stair of the 555 long Palace staircase, I fell! Suddenly, a biga*s hole in the earth happened over night! I swear on my name I was falling for like an hour! Then I finally hit the bottom of the well and my head and life were over.
"What a mess!", I thought to myself, "Someone is going to pay for this." Then I realized I could think, so that must have meant I was alive at some degree. So, I opened my eyes and I got BLINDED! So many yellow shinies! I landed in a luxurious bed of yellow gems. No, I landed in a city of yellow gems! Right in my backyard, can you believe that?
Oh, down there was some lady too. Earthmother, she called herself? Not really talkative, reminds me of my adviser Barathrus. But in the end it turns out it was Barathrus who introduced me to this rocky lady and she simply invited me over for a cup of tea. Well, she wanted to drink some weird brown stuff at first, but we unsurprisingly settled on a tea once she had her first tasting.
So, I got myself a new friend! I intend to visit her once a month at very least. She said she likes me and will prepare yellow shinies gift for me each time. She is really nice! Except I have a hole in front of my front door now and you cannot really reach the other side unless you fly or teleport. I have comissioned building of a cable-railway over the chasm.

Doesn't change the fact I still need new shoes, though.

Actually, the goose is cooked, was cooked and will be cooked!
Using new advances in material science, the armies of Ulm are now equipped with Self heating cooking pots, charged by pieces of spottygoose melted into the pots themselfs! This will allow the Soldiers of the Revolution to subsist on a steady and most healthy diet of warm and crispy sausages, without resorting to inferior food!
Morale is said to have increased significantly!

You are watching: Ulm news! Fair and heavy!

Breaking news!
The Peoples Liberation army of Ulm has engaged in a most cunning ploy for the betterment of the mercilessly mistreated male Masses of Man (Ulm news is most pleased with this artfull attempt at alliteration), by burning down every unfortified temple they can reasonably reach, the Peoples Army hopes to save the temple building Proletariat of Man from certain unemployment due to lack of further temple building space (OOC: Good grief, that dominion graph spike could have been blood sacrificing or something).

On a sidenote, the Army of Man also has some new positions available, although Ice Drake trainers will likely be in limited demand due to a urgent case of ice drake lacking.

The time has come. After what seemed like decades of strife, struggle and war, mighty C'tis has finally fallen. An event that brings joy to some and yet bitter sadness to others. Such is the way of wars and politics and some nations get to be the victims.
Regardless, cunning lizardmen of C'tis didn't give up their swampy lands for free. Oh no! I think everyone agrees with that. The ferocious resistance displayed by the subjects of the Barnacle Goose is simply astonishing and the Stars themselves shall see to it that future nations, which could find themselves in similar position, will have a pristine example to follow. Huzzah!
We shall see what the future will give us, now that the Barnacle Goose is dead.
Or is he? One does not simply march into C'tis and kill a phoenix!
I wonder where he is now; enjoying a well deserved rest somewhere sunny and safe, perhaps?

Certain dark being once said: "People are flames to be blotted out."
While the topic on what defines a person is debatable, flames were blotted out.
Not all of them, though. The Flame of Abysia is said to be eternal: and it is. Even though it was conquered, humbled and defeated, it continues to burn. It now burns in the hearts of the conquerors and one has to wonder who conquered whom.
What we have lost is another fine nation of masters of such flames. However, like their work, the eternal flames, their legacy shall live on in the minds of all of us. In a form of a song, for example!

Any last hope of survival was mercilessly quenched and the light has gotten dark as last of Abysians perished. One has to wonder though: what lies beyond?

It is likely that Ashdod is about to stale for the second time. Now, I am fairly certain that Anaconda needs to travel on a fairly regular basis, so it may well be that he will be able to rejoin us.

In the event that this does not happen, and it looks like he will stale for a third time in a row, I would propose that we turn Ashdod to AI and push on with the Ultimate Showdown of Ultimate Destiny.

I just had a look at the graphs for the game, showing army size and number of provinces. Two things stuck out:

1) Man is in a world of hurt. I thought last turn was an aberration. Now I am wondering if it was the norm, and all of Man will be gone within the next three or four turns?

2) Pan is still holding in there, fighting the brave fight! What we really need now is for the original player to return and fight their way back into the game :-)

Out of interest, will TC be honoring their three turn NAP with Ulm, or have they thrown such niceties overboard in their quest to save Juicy Lucy?

Mightypeon
January 23rd, 2012, 06:18 AM
Given that Tien Chi formally cancelled their NAP in turn 60, it would appear that they intend to honour it.
I will fairly soon be running out of unfortified provinces to raid though ;)

Also, stupid Ettins that failed to take Marx teachings to heart! So easily are the swayed by some actually not quite charming Mannese tree huggers!
(they all have MR20 or higher, which apperantly is not a safe zone for charm)
I need a thorough investigation by the NKVD on my Wild Etting Corps!

More interestingly, the comparably high education of wardens of Avalon makes them capable of understanding the progressive Ulmish cause! In several battles, they flat out refused to attack the angelic Iron Agents of the Revolution at all (muahahhaha, Halt heretic 8 ;) )! Is perhaps a proletarian overthrow in the works?

You are watching: Ulm news, fair and heavy!

Its seems some Knights of Man have created a smart strategy to limit their exposure to Ulmish awesomeness, as Knight Commander Wight D. Montgomery phased it: "Rapid tactical lighting advances into our own rear area!", while their Ulmish opponents prefer the term "running away quickly in a fairly shocked manner". One of those Knights got dismounted by an Iron Angels casual backhand slap, picked up his horse and, while carrying his horse, was running away quicker than he was while riding it! Truely, tactical destruction squads of iron Angels can be excellent incentives for rapid gains in the field of light athletics!

* Pan continues to hold out in the capital of Marignon, fighting the good fight. Illegal betting agencies are currently offering odds of 3:2 that Pan will outlast Man
* T'ien C'hi has cunningly chosen to prepare for the upcoming war with Ulm by doing ..... nothing. A spokesman was quoted as saying "doing nothing is the new black - just watch, soon all the cool kids will be doing it".

I've been struggling to figure out why my witches only occasionally choose to cast song of power when ordered to do so. It seems the AI just considers it a bad idea when faced with certain death at the hands of a tooled up Iron Angel . Song of power is damned annoying if it goes off though, perhaps its some friendly fire calculation? As in, only blow up everything if the Iron Angel/Wild Ettin already nommed enough people?

Well, a short recap of the last turn:
A hodgepodge army of Wolfs, Militia, about 40 actual Ulm infantry and Wolf tribe archers (You know its not a Main Ulm army if Ulm is casting Iron bane :D) made Ariasa, leading a numerically superior Tien Army run away very quickly, he lost 266 out of 311 units, I lost 120 chaff. The High Command of the peoples Liberation army was utterly non plussed at Tien Chis total and utter lack of magic support in this battle. Ulms rather more serious artillery deparment was very present however.
230 units of Tien are encicrled at Rheta, unless some truelly unforseen stuff happens all of them will die next turn.

Lung Drago
March 4th, 2012, 11:14 AM
Well, I'm OK with proclaiming this over. I am preoccupied with IRL stuff lately (though it should be over in few days) and frankly I already missed even the smallest of chance I had anyway.
Considering this was a new experience for most of us, in retrospective I think we all learned something from this game. Diplomacy is key :) Ulm literally conquered around himself like mad rabid dog and got away with it with no rough edges :) While Dominions isn't a game where you are instantly screwed if your opponent is a little bigger than you, this time, it went out of control and we are hands down powerless to do anything even if we combined into super collaborative effort. Reminds me of a certain well known WW2 dictator who did just this and the other powers, scared sh*tless, did nothing against it :D
Not to mention I was kinda unlucky from the very start. My starting area is exclusively mountainous, practically every province is a border mountain and few swamps here and there. Thing is, it's very incompatible with my pretender design. Ariasa is a Production 3 scaled pretender with very little income scales. I usually had a cash overflow as Tien Chi, when playing this nation you often see Order scales because of their PD generating dominion but I went for something different this time. Didn't pay off :( Every province of mine produces sooo many resources, but no hard cash to back it up :D The situation got better as I conquered Atlantis, water provinces are good gold, but, I had a very slow start that crippled me in the expansion phase.

I still think a "rematch" is a good idea. I wouldn't call it exactly a rematch since it points to having some kind of teams, but I would certainly welcome another game with you guys, since I enjoyed it. We did face a lot of unfortunate drawbacks, but those are rough edges we learn from. Our next game shall be smoother, since we'll be having two admins from the very start, and we also know to avoid rolling back turns (I suspect that strange behavior when you "win" a lost battle for example, are possibly results from this) and so on. But I certainly enjoyed the role playing layer of our game and shall expand on it more, possibly :P

Upgrading to newer CBM is a no-brainer I think, the real questions we need to resolve are:

The player roster. We might want to send PM's to our deceased brothers and inform them of this. I just checked Heinrich's profile and he still seems to be dead, but we might even want to expand our player base and have an even more epic game :P
The era. I don't exactly care that much, but it does affect nation choices and such. Do we want to roll MA again? Personally, I dislike LA, not enough magic for me :D Naturally, I love EA the most. But as I said before, I don't care that much about this to be bothered by LA too much. Still, I vote for EA for even more magical power!
Map. Plains of Rusty Nails was good, but I would welcome a change anyway :) Game settings depend on the map choice and number of players, I think. If we go for a bigger map, it may be a good idea to have slower research or something. By skimming through the map browser at llama's, I throw in Map for Old Kings, Riverlands, Cradle of Dominion or Westeros (strange that one) :)

Oh, before I forget, here Ulm, have a fanfare! (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-YCN-a0NsNk)

A short recap on what worked well for me:
1: I got a very decent starting position for Ulm, I went with an asleep Crone with good scales, and my early army (after failing to expand in turn 2) expanded fairly quickly. I also had Jade Zons nearby which did a lot of magic diversity.
2: I first spotted Pan, saw his total lack of expansion and thought "Oh crap, he is propably going to gently caress somebody with stealth units soon", so I signed an NAP 3 border sharing agreement with him. Afterwards, I found Abyssia and Mari, and both of those only had a one province border. Following flavahbeasts old strategy of "sign NAP3s with number of neighbours -1, defeat other neighbour, repeat", I proceeded to attack Shinuyama. Funnily enough, my Guardians killed his pretender in a "scout clash". He was the only target I didnt have an NAP 3 with, he was SHinuyama and thus propably the nation with the best lategame, and I just killed his god. Invasion of Shinu immdiatly proceeded. I found out that Ermor bordered Shinu, and did not need much to convince him of joining in. The war against Shinu was fairly straight forward, I had an economy and castle advantadge, and while a Bakemono Sorc is much better than a Mage Smith, this is less important if you send 2 mage smiths for each Bakemono Sorc. Bonus points if the Sorcs are close to their archers and die to crossbows.
After dealing with Shinu, (and bribing him to go and annoy Ctis), I went after Ctis together with Ermor. Around that time I put up the forge, and, by trading heavily with Abyssia, I pumped out a retarted amount of 1 Fire gem lightless lanterns. This gave me a sizeable research advantadge, and propably disuaded other aggressions.
Going for Ctis was not particularly hard either, the only strong fight being the cap, and I had research advantadge when that happened. I initially wanted to go for Man immidiatly after, but got distracted with building up stuff, Pangea and Shinies. I think I actually got all artifacts...
My Blitzkrieg agaisnt Man went off well enough too, although I would have prefered to launch it while Abyssia was still alive.

I will post a thread, for the game "INeedMUCHMorePower". Sounds like EA is the go, with CBM 1.92.

With the map, the key things we need to think about are:
* Player to province ratio (say 12-15 provinces per player max)
* Are we OK with corners, or do we want a wrap-around map?
* How much water? Do we want to have water nations? What about dead seas?

I completely agree that the rematch has to be a total reboot - alliances are reset, old grudges are set aside etc.

For some reason the edit button dissapeared from my last post. Oh well.

Anyway, since apparently jimbojones didn't get to it, I created the new game thread and took the liberty of adding your names in the player list already (well, those that voiced their rematch opinion) and will be sending a PM to others. Naturally, you still have to post your nation pick.
We'll do EA this time and LA for a possible third game, just so that there is no timeline continuation between the games so it can boggle our minds, lol! :D If it's ok, of course.

And here is the link to the thread, Power Beyond Comprehension (http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/showthread.php?t=48484)!
