View Full Version : MA Ulm Invades MA C'tis (advice requested)

Here is the situation:
We are using CBM 1.84. MA Ulm has a large force and is scheduled to invade MA C'tis.
1. How the heck do I defeat their disease dominion power? A few of my commanders have already been infected. I was honestly surprised by the strength of this power as I invaded the lizards den.
2. My prophet has had his HPs reduced to 1HP due to the dominion strength of the C'tis territory. Sadly, my prophet also was infected by disease during the invasion. Will he die next turn due to the disease? Or will he live a while longer if I can improve the dominion?
Just looking for some overall good general advice from my fellow Ulm fans out there (recommended magic, summons or rituals).
Many thanks.

Your prophet is dead. Disease stops his hp from increasing by any means except in-combat regeneration. Ok, you can hold steady if you have a regen bless, but i don't know if that'll help at 1hp. If you managed to attack a province with better dominion for you and have a regen bless or can otherwise cause him to regenerate, that would save him, at least for a time.
You can try building armies of units that aren't subject to the negative effects of Ctis dominion. IIRC, they need to be PR100 *and* swamp survival or something crazy like that.
Or you can just use demons/undead.

The strength of his dominion will determine disease rates. So try to avoid provinces with lots of his candles. I played as MA Ctis in an MP game once and came across a province that allowed me to recruit sages. By keeping my dominion low in that province, my sages rarely became diseased.
Liberal use of province targeting spells and any sort of teleport you might have access to would be nice as well. Put temples on your borders.
You're going to suffer attrition but if you are able to strike key provinces without having to march through his territory, that would be preferable. Then as you overtake his dominion, you can mass invade later on depending on his province count and your ability mitigate his dominion.
Remember that cold blooded, lifeless (think golems here) or with swamp survival is immune to miasma. I don't think poison immune units are resistant. Other units to consider might be clockwork horrors, claymen etc depending on how far along everyone is in research. I mention these because you probably have decent access to an earth gem income.

Foodstamp is right, the following unit types will not be affected by Miasma:
Cold-blooded
Swamp Survival
And the following units are immune to disease (and hence Miasma):
Lifeless
Undead
Demons
Golems are not really a great plan against MA C'tis because he has cheap S1 shamans who will magic duel you. If you have access to Gift of Reason, Gargoyles are probably your cheapest E option for trashing his PD. C'tis PD is absolutely terrible. A Siege Golem eliminates the need for a big army to take down his walls.
To convert his dominion, your master smiths can make stone idols, or you can just sacrifice (you'll lose some to miasma) a few of your recruit-anywhere inquisitor black priests. I'd go with the priests, to save your gems.

You could also consider forging the chalice, in particular if you have the Forge of Ulm up. If you forge it with your rainbow pretender while holding the Hammer of the Forge Lord, the price becomes quite bearable.
Siege Golem and Gargoyles are both good ideas too.

Ignore regular golems. Build *Poison Golems*
