the flavor says sometimes knights attak the wearer of the chalice. Is it true in-game? (or it depends on where he wears it :) )

It's never happened to me. But that is the sort of thing that Dominions does.

iirc, lch couldn't find any evidence of code to cause this to happen. So its probably just flavor text.

I have has a couple of events in SP where a province was attacked by knights. I can't remember the specific flavour text, but it was similar to having a province attacked by events that spawn barbarians, undead, vinemen, ronin and manikins.

Yeah, but never for the chalice. It's a group of knights rebelling or whatever. They come in with some chaff.
But not because the chalice is in the province. I think that would be a great price for such a great item.

They sometimes come up as a rare indy province, led by a paladin with a bunch of unique armaments, but not as a random event.

The knights-attack thing is a bad luck event for provinces with turmoil, isn't it? Or, at any rate, some combination of "bad luck result on event check" and scales, like vampires attacking and really big barbarian attacks.

I feel like a remember having knights attempt assassinations on the person holding the Chalice in Dom 2. Is that right? The text could just be a holdover.

Actually there is a very rare event (in the event list) that can only happen if you have the MA man multi-Hero: Knight of the Stone. If I recall correctly those knights could get quests (as random events) were they quest for random items. That is to say the player get the quested item in their inventory. It *might* be possible to get artifacts in these events.

That's the guy. They're MA Marignon Knights of the Chalice led by Solaris.
I've never gotten an MA Man Knight of the Stone, and don't poke around in the back end, so I don't know what their flavor text or events are like.

To the question of the OP, it is holdover flavor text. There is no assassination attempt by knights. There is a random event where knights try to liberate a province under your control, but it does not require the Chalice to be present.

"A group of knights has unexpectedly attacked our province in an attempt to take control."

Requires Turn 8, Misfortune 2 and middle era. Attack by 2 Knight Commanders, 4d6 Knights and 3d6 Militia.
