I will start a campaign with the United States. The hero is Lieutenant Colonel Anderson who is in charge of a battalion that is intended to protect the Aleutian Islands. A Japanese attack was made on 30 May 1942. Lt. Col. Anderson should hold the position. Weapons has dated but has support from some light tanks and some artillery.
The primary mission is to survive. The experience of the soldiers is very poor. The Japanese already have years of struggle that makes them tough enemies.

Order of battle:
Commander: Lieutenant Colonel Anderson
Troops: 3 infantry companies (The troops have outdated weapons) supported by a machine gun and a 60 mm mortar company (Core).
Some reconnaissance patrols (auxiliary).
5 light tanks M3 (Core).
2 platoons of antiaircraft weapons (M13) (auxiliary).
A battery of 75 mm (Core).
3 squadrons of P40 for air support.

Anderson deployed his forces on a broad front, but will give priority to the southern area where the most valuable targets (red circles).
Begin the fight ....

The scouts move slowly to find the enemy. The Japanese are not very smart they threw smoke on their own positions. Anderson will call the aircraft to find their artillery.
The company in the north have orders not to go further and to retreat to the south if they find enemies to avoid being surrounded.
The terrain is very bad and two tanks bogged down.

In the south we were discovered. I hope that we cover the smoke to escape.
In the center are not enemy troops. If we can move without hindrance on patrol could infiltrate behind enemy lines and destroy the enemy artillery.

All is well. One hopes that aviation has silenced the enemy artillery, although there are a couple of mortars enemies.

In southern bombings still receive 75 mm cannon, but the peloton concerned is withdrawn to a safer area. Maybe i can counterattack in a couple of turns.

marginal Victory
Left 3 objectives to take.
The fight was tough, but exceeded my expectations. I settled for a draw but got a marginal victory.
I hope that my soldiers have gained experience.
To correct:
I'll have more air defenses and I will have my mortar ammunition.
In this area I can not use my superiority in tanks.

Pretty good Dar there Roman,i enjoyed the read:)

As a suggestion,if you don't want go with the Aluetions again, you could set next battle or two with one VH near the JIA and after repairing simply deploy your force to the edge your map side and retreat.
You will lose,a battle or two, but still gain some exp.and get out the boggy Aluetions,to more firmer ground where armour and transport might be more effective in the South Pacific.

Whatever you decide,Good luck to you!

Roman

Thanks Gila. Sometimes I have decided to end the battle as you say. I just pass the turn without fighting. That way I have managed draws and if I remember to have been marginal victories without a fight.
The first battle was to show the hardness of the Japanese.
regards

Second Battle: Aleutian Islands, June 1942.
Battle of 33 turns.
Added 3 snipers and three groups of scouts to the main force.
Auxiliaries:
- 3 m15antiaircraft firing.
- 1 platoon of 81 mm mortar
- 3 sections of ammo wagon

Turns 1 to 5:
The Japanese attacked with two planes. My defenses shot down one. They also bombarded with 75mm cannons. They did enough damage. They destroyed two ammunition wagons and damaged a M15.
They also attacked with 81mm mortars.
My troops advance. The M3 section 5 tanks are advancing along the south in an excellent area for vehicles. I will try to take his rear guard and eliminate their artillery.
Unfortunately I have no air support.

Roman
December 11th, 2011, 12:08 AM
Turn 6 to 14:
My tanks are infiltrated behind the enemy lines and destroyed 4 enemy mortars.
In the north there is no enemy activity. The enemy took the southern targets and trying to take the objectives of the center.
My artillery is ready to smash the enemy.

Roman
December 11th, 2011, 02:08 PM
Decisive Victoria surprise.
On turn 22 the battle was over. (The battle was 33 turns).
Is that I took all the targets and to shut most of the enemy troops (which can be seen in the red circle).
I have been very useful as m15 antiaircraft also used against infantry, not to mention that destroyed five enemy aircraft.

Roman
December 11th, 2011, 02:13 PM
Steps to follow:
The battery of 75 mm does not have sufficient range to act as counterbattery against Japanese 75 mm cannons. I'm going to change battery of 105 mm.
If it reaches the score, I will proceed to update the infantry, to give them rifles m1.
As soon as I can antiaircraft will incorporate the main force.

Roman
December 11th, 2011, 02:31 PM
Third Battle:
I have a battle of defense with 47 turns.
I'm going to concentrate on defending the northern and central objectives.
Take care of a good way of escape to the north. I can not maneuver with tanks on the flanks because a river divides the map and the terrain is bad for cars.
My biggest fear is the enemy planes. Mines and barbed wire could buy but I choose to buy antiaircraft.

Roman
December 11th, 2011, 07:58 PM
Turn 4 of the third battle.
No enemy aircraft appear
The Japanese bombarded me with all types of guns: 75 mm, 105 mm, 150 mm, 100 mm.
The bombings are not very effective.
Have appeared for the first time the Japanese tanks. I saw 7 of them. I have not antitank but I hope that my light tanks M3 · and the antiaircraft M15 can against them.

Roman
December 11th, 2011, 08:33 PM
turn 9
My tanks and M15 have knocked out enemy tanks at 4. I still see 11 enemy tanks.
I chose light tanks which clog less thinking in this area. Then the tank will change by Sherman but are now very fulfilling their duties.

Roman
December 11th, 2011, 10:26 PM
turn 19
The situation is very difficult. The enemy has plenty of artillery support. My three companies were heavily burdened.
While we have caused heavy casualties to the enemy that has come very close.
Let's make a tactical retreat while waiting for our artillery delayed the enemy.

Roman
December 11th, 2011, 11:26 PM
turn 25
This is a disaster. I have two battered companies. It is difficult to escape.
My mistake was to have bought too many antiaircraft M15. I should have bought mortars.

Roman
December 12th, 2011, 04:22 PM
End of the third battle:
Could support up to the turn 43. Look at the map and you will see the number of Japanese artillery and Japanese human tide.
The final was marginal defeat. :(

Fourth battle: Delay
Guadalcanal in August, 1942
Despite the last battle was a defeat, the Japanese forces in the Aleutian Islands have their days numbered.
With the experience gained and the attitude in fighting Lt. Col. Anderson has been reassigned to Guadalcanal.
Maintains its strength through the reinforcements. Added a mortar platoon M4.
The terrain is difficult, not suitable for tanks.
The objective is to delay the enemy and produce as many casualties as possible.
The plan is to wait for the Japanese bombing and then move near the targets.
To the south tank force looking infiltrate enemy artillery.
For now I will leave the AAR. Occasionally I will give news about the campaign.
See you soon.
