View Full Version : Greed for slave collar

My prophet was greedy indeed, couldn't resist to loot that slave collar carried by some even dumber druid (mercenary Master Druid). I guess slaying a retarded druid doesn't feel accomplished enough...Anybody actually tricked another player's early rush pretender into picking up a slave collar? :p

I thought looting cursed items was patched out (you'd think they could just put them in their bag for later examination).
If you're blood, the only way to salvage the situation is to make the gift of Kurgi and give it to him.

How does that solve the situation?

Got the latest patch installed, why is a master druid mercenary wearing a slave collar anyways lol, doesn't make any sense.

Oh well, my prophet has lived long enough to get +5 attack skill from staying in the hall of fame. I guess even though it's bad to have a slave collar on a guy with any magic skill, but it gives you the comfort to send him on suicide Thug missions. He's got 21 attack skill and 19 defense without any artifacts, but only meager 13 hp on neutral dom. Anything other than gift of health that could increase his hp, preferably an item?

No items boost hp. Can healers fix item induced injury? Or the chalice?

There are two hall of fame bonuses that grant extra hp, the obesity one and a general extra hp one.

Personally, I'd just suicide the guy. Just beware to collar doing the rounds :)

Afflictions caused by items can be cured like normal provided the item has been removed. For example, handing a rod of the leper king will cause the equipped unit to become diseased. If you put the rod back in the lab, the unit remains diseased but that affliction can be healed like normal. If you give a unit the black heart, since the black heart can't be removed you can never heal the unit's chest wound.

I think the same is true of default afflictions for pretenders (i.e. you can't cure the Forge Lord's limp or the Allfather's missing eye), though I'm not 100% on that.

Doesn't solve it, but you can make an SC out of him

You can always pick up cursed items dropped by friendly units (including mercs).

If you're blood, the only way to salvage the situation is to make the gift of Kurgi and give it to him.

If you can forge Kurgi, you are better off not giving it to a guy who can't survive single combat with a lesser horror.

That's not true. Pretender afflictions, including initial afflictions, can be cured just like normal unit afflictions.

This. And since he's in the HOF, when he dies you could even make a H3 mummy out of him, assuming you'll eventually get the Chalice or GoH.

You can cure them, no problem. If you are playing Arcocephale it isn't even expensive to do so.

One way to remove a cursed item is to change unit type to another with different slots, such as with the transformation spell (or by being a shapechanger in the first place)

The other solution is to die and be reborn:
- immortal unit diying in dominion
- god killed and brought back by priests
- using twiceborn to came back as a wigth mage
- coming back as a mummy (hall of fame hero only)

Immortality doesn't preserve equipment when you resurrect? Bummer.

While on this subject, it seems to me(?) that sometimes when an equipped mage (mine or enemy, I guess) dies/gets killed I "find" item(s), sometimes not (and they disappear). Is that about right? Is there a "percentage" for finding items? If a guy wearing/carrying one dies and nobody else is left in the province, does the item disappear forever, or can later entrants "stumble acroos it"?

That sort of thing? :)

Some items are impossible to retrieve but most have a chance of being picked up. If there is no one there to pick up an item, or if an item simply fails to be picked up after a battle, it is lost forever (though, in the case of artifacts, they can be reforged).

From what I remember, the chance increase with the level of the item (so you have more chance to recover an artifact than a trinket), but is never 100%, and of course you need to have an appropriate slot free on one of your commanders
