out of 22 commanders. *sigh*
So now I have some questions:

1. What exactly will happen
2. When will it happen?
3. What can I do to prevent it from happening?
4. What possibilities do I have to get rid of the thing.
5. Does she cast spells at all when berserk, or will she rush right into melee?
6. My mages seem to pick up each Lycos Amulet they come across. Is there something in CBM that enhances the chances for the amulet to be picked?

They will be berserk at the start of every battle and charge the enemy. The one possible cure I can think of is that they might lose all of their items when they die, at which point you can get your priests to Call God to resurrect them. They'll lose 1 from each magic path and it will take 50 priest levels to call them back.

Alternately, if you've got a pretender with useful paths, this may be a sign that it's time to retire your pretender to the lab.

One solution that comes to mind would be filling misc slots of important mages(especially the pretender) with stuff beforehand. Even if they're useless. You can always switch the useless trash but a thing like the amulet will give you the strongest of headaches...

It just dawns on me, that the Amulet was my own. Carried by a mother of Avalon who in turn picked it from a lord warden some time ago.
DOH

That mother could have sneaked away before the battle easily, but I thought here useless and didn't care.
Man, had I used her as a scout...

Yes, I figured that. Doesn't help now, though.
What about the transformation to a skinshifter. Are all magic paths lost when that happens? Can it be prevented? (MR or something)

Wish might get you out of it. If losing magic is what's important to you, twice-born should fix your problem too. As will transformation.
A shame that there isn't a cleaner way to do it. That should be implemented, with a cool thematic way. Maybe a quest to remove your curse.

Magic paths are retained, but stats and item slots change and he still stays berserk.

You can use him for research and rituals, though.

I believe that the amulet is unable to transform pretenders.

Twiceborn keeps paths? Never used it, as I don't play death much.
Would have to empower, with almost no death income :(
Wouldn't the transformated creature keep the amulet?

There's a small chance to even increase death magic by 1 when you die with twiceborn. Something about, finding a greater understanding of death trough experiencing it.

One of my mothers of Avalon picked up a Lychantropos Amulet from one of my Lord Wardens.
I didn't care about her and let her attend the next major battle. She rushed the enemy and was the only of my 22 commanders to die. But the Amulet was picked up by my rainbow pretender, with the ability to cast Fog Warriors, Battle Fortune and such nice things. It will have been her last battle. She retired and waits for becoming a skinshifter.

NOOOO, i loved that battle. Hope you get rid of it.

The becoming a skinshifter mechanic is odd. Not all units can transform not sure what the requirements are.

I didnt know that some units couldnt transform. I thought you just had an MR check each month, and if you fail, you become a skinshifter. I dont know what the check is, but if pretenders CAN transform, their higher MR should keep it from happening for a while.

Dunno if it was the pretender ability, but monoliths cannot transform :D

Yes, that's true. But isnt that because they are lifeless? Lifeless and undead can't cast transformation, so maybe the amulet has the same critera as the transformation spell?

In a game against Eriu I swear that the AI delibrately mass-produced Lycantropos Amulets and fed them to my commanders. Virtually everybody on the frontlines picked up one.
