Is this possible? What are the effects?
For example, if a Mercenary cast Twiceborn and is then killed in your dominion, is the resultant Wight Mage still a mercenary?
What about a merc given a Lycanthropos amulet or similar item (pebble skin suit)?
HoF mercs. Are they eligable for Ritual of Rebirth?
I would do some testing, but if someone already has this data I would appreciate information on whether tranformed merc's retain their mercenary status.

HoF mercenaries are available for RoR. You'll keep them bound forever but they will insist on keeping anything you give them (gems, items). Moreover, they cannot lead troops. Don't ask me why that makes sense.
I imagine it would be the same for Twice-born. IDK about transformations, but it would certainly be interesting to see.

Test it Tigerblood. Would be interesting to know.
(Download the debug mod, makes testing super easy).

Thanks for the info. I'll play around with a few different scenarios and document any interesting discoveries.

A few months ago I ran some tests on this. Don't actually remember them anymore but at the time I said that I "had a merc cast transformation and charmed another one. In both cases they remained mercs. Enslave mind removed their commander status but they disappeared after the fight." I thought I tested twiceborn as well and they still remained mercs but perhaps I'm misremembering.

I ran some tests and it appears they still remain mercenaries, which reinforces what Valerius stated.
I'll have to wait and see what happens with the Lychanthropos amulet, but twiceborn and transformation keep them as mercs.
The only other test I can run with twiceborn is to try and get the unit killed on the same turn as the contract expires, but it does not look promising.
I have not tested the Pebble Skin Suit. While the artifact has a different effect from the Lyc. amulet, I figure they are similar enough in function that the results will be similar. If the amulet yields a positive result, I'll test the suit.

What happens when you cast "Enslave Mind" on a mercenary?

You get them as a unit. They probably manage to off themselves immediately, in that battle.

Right, I get that. But suppose they survive? Do the then serve you indefinitely? Also, what if you enslave mind, then GOR them? Just asking for curiosity's sake. I can't think of a mercenary that would be worth all that trouble.

Those eternal knights are kinda nifty...

Some of the mercenaries have magic paths, and if the paths they have are the ones you don't have and need to break into they might be worth it. It would be worth testing.

I don't think it is ever possible to keep mercs. Never heard about it.

With ritual of rebirth, you definitely can.
