Anybody knows whether undead units cost maintenance just like other units? I can't find the answer on the manual

I think the only undead unit that requires upkeep is LA Ulm's ghoul guardian. If there are any other recruitable undead, then they might too. But undead from reanimation and summons don't.

Undead with gold costs still have an upkeep cost like normal units.

If you spend gold for it it has upkeep. If you summon it it most likely doesn't have upkeep.

To expand a bit: Any unit that can be recruited with gold will cost you upkeep, even if you summon them. This includes units that can be recruited from sites (Trolls and Sea Trolls are the most stereotypical examples) as well as units such as Yomi's Dai Oni and Kailasa's Yaksha and Yakshini, which can be summoned by later versions of their nation. If I recall correctly there are also one or two summoned units that have a goldcost associated with them (and thus cost upkeep) despite not being recruitable in any way, but I can't recall wich ones.

Also many mod nations attach a goldcost to (some) summoned units as a part of balancing.

Being undead in and of itself doesn't have an effect on upkeep cost, but since most undead units are summoned in some way they'll lack an upkeep cost.

Thanks for the expansion. I have two further questions:

1) I am playing late Abysia under CBM. Do summoned Smoulderghosts need upkeep?

2) More generally, is a unit's upkeep cost listed anywhere in the game?

Help is appreciated :)

2) Nope, check the wiki or the mod file.
1) see 2. It is good practice to learn to do this yourself.

Lanka's Mandeha springs to mind.

Mictlan slaves have a 2gold recruitement (but cant be hired) cost so i guess a 2/15 gold upkeep.

Also foul spawn has a little upkeep (however some of them can be recruited, so it's maybe only those who have an upkeep).

If i remember well there is already an old post treating this subject with some samples.

upkeep is one gold for each 15 gold they cost. one gold for each 30 they cost if they are sacred. Zero gold if they are a prophet. Fractions count.
