If i assault a prov and cast teleport on it, will the mages that are casting it join the big battle, have a separate battle or appear after the battle (wether the big battle was won or lost) ?

Magic phase battles (teleport among them) occur prior to normal battles. Teleporting in mages works well as a defense, less so offensively.

Not that I've ever tried it, but offensively I guess you might be able to teleport in for a "pre-battle" to cast, say, some Soul Slays or Horror Marks, and then a Returning to get out quickly (I assume if you Retreat from Teleport you get lost in The Void) ;)

no- you don't. You retreat to a friendly province if there is one.

Thanks --- OK, you can save on casting the Returning then!

returning does put them back in a lab. So you can use the tactic again next turn. Vortex of returning is better of course, if you have a lot of mages.
