The army screen didn't move ! I should have double checked, so now I'm utterly depressed.

People of the Riverlands, this is Great Chairman speaking.

The Democratic-Communistic Party of the Tien Chi decided that ongoing acts of the agression from the alien invaders from outer space won't go unpunished. Those guests from the stars invaded the free nation of Abysia and even now are besieging the walls of Abysian citadels. The ongoing extintion of the underwater speicies in the regions under R'lyeh's control lead the Party to belive that there is a mass slaughter of innocent people going on. And using methods of direct mind control over population is almost unthinkable. Slavery is the worst method of exploitation of the working class that the capitalists ever invented.

I ordered my armies to do thier international duty and to throw those invaders back to the sea. I'm demanding from the nation of the Dreamlands to stop the aggression against the Abysia, to retreat to the ocean and to stop the acts of enslavement and genocide against underwater creatures. My forces will enforce peace in this land, no matter the cost.

Glory to the Third International.
Glory to the Motherland.

The free and peaceful nation of Abysia welcomes the liberators of Tien Chi! The atrocities committed by those of the Dreamlands is unspeakable and abhorrable. We are eternally grateful to Tien Chi for their selfless acts in helping to drive off these in human (and inanimate) invaders.

The Lords of C'tis would have been happy to help you in this crusade of reason against insanity but there is no more R'lyehan province adjacent to ours. We did our share of the fight by removing their only outpost on our border.
Good luck in rejecting these abominations into the void they came from!

Indeed a noble act! However, all should remember from history that sometimes it will take decades to get rid of the liberators also. In occasions, they turn pests themselves.

Yet another 12h turn delay request from me.

Comrades, what do you think about switching to 60h or 72h turns? We are nearing turn 50, lots of micro to do for most of us.

Immaculate
July 25th, 2012, 09:59 PM
Please add 1 hour extension - i just got home and may stale.

Lunaje
July 26th, 2012, 03:29 AM
I agree with a change of pace, could use more time these days.
On a side note, oh Zmeys how I hate you and your efficient cheapness.

July 26th, 2012, 06:52 AM
Stars were wrong all along, so R'lyeh became AI.

mattyburn7
July 26th, 2012, 08:56 AM
I agree also with slowing game down.

Immaculate
July 26th, 2012, 01:40 PM
1) Agree to timer extension.

2) Also agree that zmey need a nerf. Maybe even a significant one. I have a hard time justifying a single fire gem spent on anything else.

EDIT:
3) How did Marrignon lose their global?

Anaconda
July 26th, 2012, 02:23 PM
Zmeys need to be nerfed! Undersigned; barbequed squid.

Russian_Comrade
July 26th, 2012, 02:31 PM
Probably someone dispelled it. Not me, but I'm pretty thankful.

And yeah, Zs are a real terror to behold - especially spammed.

Russian_Comrade
July 26th, 2012, 04:23 PM
Also, I desperately need a 24H extension this time.

And I'm going on work trip to Kazakhstan on Sunday for a couple of days - and there is a huge probability that I'm going to be without a internet connection... Well, it is a pretty small town in Kazakhstan.

Immaculate
July 26th, 2012, 05:31 PM
thats pretty cool.

What do you do (EDIT) comrade?

Russian_Comrade
July 28th, 2012, 12:00 PM
Nothing serious.

Once again:

Guys, I'm going to be in Kazakhstan on the work trip next week and probably won't be able to make my turn until Thursday. No internet in the hotel.

Immaculate
July 28th, 2012, 05:18 PM
I'll also be away from Sunday afternoon to Wednesday.

Can Russian and I get an extension?

Vishniac
July 28th, 2012, 06:16 PM
A technical question.
In one of my coastal provinces, I got a message this turn telling me that:People in Province X are rambling about strange dreams, the stars and R'lyeh. Madness has struck the province and 20 people have diedOk, but not only is there no R'lyehan province bordering this one but it has a temple and 8 candles of my dominion!!
Any explanation how that happens?

Anaconda
July 30th, 2012, 12:31 PM
Before turning AI, R'lyeh sent out quite a few Void spectres. Maybe those have something to do with it.

Lunaje
July 31st, 2012, 07:58 AM
Marignon has staled two times in a row. TC did too this turn, most probably due to not getting his extension. Which according to Russian Comrade's orecent post may happen again with the current schedule. Just saying this because it's a really bad time for this to happen, as in game some of you may already know.

mattyburn7
July 31st, 2012, 08:46 AM
Yes. Hopefully we can get this current turn extended.

Russian_Comrade

Just got back.

Maringon staled? He IS a current admin, isn't he?

Russian_Comrade
August 1st, 2012, 11:12 AM
Also, no offence guys, but I won't be able to do the turn in 12 hours. Jet lag is killing me.

Also: And I thought that we switched to longer turns.

I'm currently at war with Maringon so it's really awkward situation.

KeithZ
August 1st, 2012, 11:49 AM
We lost our admin, for the second time.
Shall we ask llama for the password again?

Russian_Comrade
August 1st, 2012, 11:50 AM
Ouch.
Just sent something turn-like. Not a normal turn, just half-aware recruitment and basic movement.

Still, we've got an admin problem.

Lunaje
August 2nd, 2012, 01:37 PM
This is bad news. This game has had so many leaves. That's ok, real life tends to get troublesome, but there hasn't been any notice at all in the..five cases of sudden disappearance by now?
I'll send a PM to llamabeast.

mattyburn7
August 2nd, 2012, 01:52 PM
If we need a new admin. I'll be happy to do it if nobody else wants to.

Lunaje
August 2nd, 2012, 02:03 PM
I PMed llamabeast regarding the problem, and also I'm offering to take the admin (of course, if there are no objections)
I will be on travel this Friday and probably part of Saturday, so in case llama answers by then (which is hosting time), I mentioned you mattyburn7 as admin material too :P.
Hope we can get this solved,

Immaculate
August 4th, 2012, 03:07 PM
So did Llama did not respond? Do we not have another moderator? Seems a shame to see the mighty Marrignon empire fall to neglect like this.

Lunaje
August 4th, 2012, 06:27 PM
No answer by now, so I guess we can still play our turns, but the schedule will be unforgiving.
And Marignon, the war was in the peak of its fun, now the troops won't even suicidally move like AI Jomon did.

Immaculate
August 4th, 2012, 07:10 PM
That sucks. Marrignon was going to be a really tough not to crack with a good player at the helm and now its just so much scavenge.

Lunaje
August 7th, 2012, 01:02 AM
Ok people, thanks to Llamabeast we have a new admin, that being me! I'll send the pass to Mattyburn7 to have a backup. If something blows up, you can blame my inexperience, but most probably nothing preposterous will happen.
I delayed the turn until Friday, will post searching a sub for Marignon, as it seems a playable nation in current state. So everybody should start rethinking its scavenging plans, including me of course :P

Deadnature

Oh man, I just barely missed the turn-in time for my turn...so another stale for poor old marignon. That's a real pain for me too since I did so much work putting marignon's house in order, ugh, but its my fault sooo....

Sorry about the stale guys, especially after I just took over this staling nation, but I'll still try my best to make marignon a tough nut to crack!

Lunaje
August 11th, 2012, 02:07 AM
Oh, I should have added some hours preemptively, but didn't come to my mind, as I extended the turn yesterday. If anybody needs an extension, send me a PM so the notice will get to my email; i check it more often than the forum or the server.

Also, Caelum has been staling, so I'll send a message to him.

Lunaje
August 12th, 2012, 09:45 PM
No response, no turn from Caelum.
What should we do about it? I really don't know what position is it in, and it's already a sub.

Immaculate
August 12th, 2012, 10:13 PM
ask c'tis... he's rolling him up. i suspect you can probably set him AI... my spies report that there's not much fight left to him... from what i see.

Vishniac
August 13th, 2012, 11:52 AM
I didn't speak with Albert The Obscure for quite a long time but I can confirm that Caelum is dead meat.

The lesson taught was: never believe that someone else will do your dirty work for you if you're not able to do it anayway! :D

Immaculate
August 13th, 2012, 11:56 AM
So look for someone to set him AI? or send a PM to albert to ask him to do it?

We should be running again.

48h turns are not good at this point of the game.

Lunaje
August 15th, 2012, 03:15 PM
Ouch, another Marignon stale :/. I'm a lousy admin?. My fault, Russian Comrade, I didn't remember the previous request to do that. I'll set 72 hours now, I guess Deadnature can use the extra time too.
Caelum is definitely AI now. There might be some minor problems as they have the bugged ettin site, but nothing serious.

Immaculate
August 19th, 2012, 04:41 PM
Did you send deadnature a PM?
He's getting his turns (or at least his pretender is uploaded) in in another game (http://z7.invisionfree.com/Dom3mods/index.php?showtopic=927) he is involved in so if he's not engaged in this one, its not because he's not around.

i.

Lunaje
August 19th, 2012, 05:12 PM
Well, turn got in. Hope we can keep a mostly normal schedule from now on. I was only able to check deadlines because it's weekend.

Deadnature
August 19th, 2012, 11:20 PM
umm, I'm still in this one, sorry that I used all the time provided and staled another one before(!), I'll try to not leave it to the last minute to finish my turn.

It has taken some reajustment to get used to the turn-turning-in-process after some time, but I think I've got the hang of it again.

As for the other game, yeah that took about five-minutes of my time so far, so it interupts this game about as much as brushing my teeth would :)

But, point taken. I will get my turns in faster for this game without staling.

Thanks for your patience!

Immaculate
August 21st, 2012, 11:53 AM

Is it possible to find a sub for this time?

Lunaje
August 22nd, 2012, 01:18 PM
Don't know, but I can try. I will postpone in the meanwhile. 2 weeks is not much of a time, number of turns wise; I could wait, but that's a personal opinion. What do the others think?
I'll wait for your opinions, if not I'll post looking for a sub this evening, as Russian_Comrade requested.

Vishniac

A question to more experienced players: waves of insanity strike my capital and other provinces and patrolling doesn't help.

The suspect is:Before turning AI, R'lyeh sent out quite a few Void spectres. Maybe those have something to do with it.

Should I just put more and more mobile units on patrol until I find them and kill them or is it something special?

Uhm, there are three stales this turn (Me, Marignon and Tien Chi). I don't how this happened as you can see in the admin log that it accepted my 96 hours postponement this noon (on my local time). My fault anyway, I'll double check with the main game page in the future. Hope none of our nations will crumble apart for this turn of inaction.

Just pointing out quickly that I have no idea how them Void spectres work, but if R'lyeh has fallen I assume they should have dissapeared?

Dont tell me you just let R'lyeh live? 'cause in addition to those I sent out AI is most likely summoning them more as we speak.

mattyburn7
September 5th, 2012, 06:45 AM
R'lyeh hasn't quite fallen yet. I tough I was finishing them off then had an unfortunate and purely accidental collision with Man so there is still a small spark of R'lyeh at least in 2 water provinces.

Lunaje
September 7th, 2012, 07:58 PM
Since Russian is back, I'll be sending my turn in a while and hope the remaining players who are missing will do too. In any case, I might add some hours preemptively later this night as I will not be around tomorrow. But is expected that current turn hosts tomorrow.

Russian_Comrade

Also, how acceptable is casting a global with 60% chance of dropping a global of non-enemy nation? I'm really thinking about recasting my gem-gen.

There is 40% chance of dropping Maringon's enchantments too, and Maringon probably earned the status of "nation who screwed all of us" by now.

Deadnature

Patala is getting its butt handed to it by a very powerful Chelms. I just lost an entire army. (stupid solar brilliance! stupid Tarts! Stupid mages! stupid werewolf amulet! stupid fort in every province! stupid liches! stupid wither bones!)

I'm really realizing that in a big map you HAVE to take growth scales or you will be at a serious disadvantage in the late game.

Immaculate
September 26th, 2012, 10:21 PM
Hey- i realize i am asking for lots of extensions lately and to be honest i am finding it hard to find enough time to fulfill my gaming comittments (laregly due to a new job).

I've got the turn started but need more time.

I'm also looking to offload some of my gaming commitments and have asked for a sub for either this game or another. Hopefully when that happens either i can focus more on this one game and not keep having to ask for extensions or the new player will have more time than me.

For now though, with business travel tomorrow and again on sunday, things are tough. I need a 48h extension on this turn.

Anyway, if you know anyone who might be willing to sub for patala in either this game or the other, check this out:

I'm currently involved in two games where i am playing patala. Turns 64 and 76 approximately. In both games i am leading in territory and have some globals, a good blood economy and many SCs. They are both very fun to play but unfortunately i recently started a new job (well, thats not unfortunate really) and i find myself with much less time than i used to have. I am looking to offload one of these two very enjoyable games to someone who wants to jump in on a late game war.

Here are a few more details:

Game 1: Smiting Season (turn 76): War just beginning with a blood-economy driven Marrignon. Many SCs, good blood economy, good gold economy. Fair but not excellent artifact control. Excellent diversity (every path available pretty much) Control former Man and former Pythium lands as well as a significant portion of formerly neutral lands. Strong contender for the win after Marrignon- so probably first in land and gems but second to Marrignon in everything else. Score graphs are off so its hard to tell exactly.

Game 2: Blood Sacrifice (turn 64): War with Man (who is heavily forted up). A good number of SCs (not as many as smiting). Very good blood economy (under Marrignon's astral corruption so thats good). Very good gold economy. Poor artifact control. Excellent diversity (better than Smiting). Control former Ulm, C'tis, and parts of R'leyh, and Caelum lands. Interesting diplomatic situation where most of the world's nations are at war with Marrignon and on good terms with Patala despite huge territory, good globals and a very strong contention for the win. Only problem is that man is very tough and has won some early skirmishes (lots of tartarians, chalice).

Anyway, if you are interested in either game i can e-mail you the game files and you can choose which you want to take. I would keep playing them both but like i said, my new job is taking a lot of my time and i've had to reduce gaming time.

Thanks for your consideration,
Immac.

Thanks for your understanding. I feel bad for having to reduce my gaming time; i didn't realize i would have to find new employment when i signed up for this game and couldn't have known that my time would be so stretched.

This sure is fun though.

I'll extend the timer to 96h now. I always end extending the timer anyway, besides any official requirements to do so. And Deadnature, I know you may have had some kind of emergency, but please keep the timer more in check; I couldn't avoid the stale this time.

Unfortunately, I've got some problems with finding time to play Dom3 with my new work. Constant overtimes and wrecked holidays included. I do not know for how long I'll be in this crazy state but it'll probably going to be at least for a month or so.

With all regret I must say that you'll have to find a sub for me. Sorry, guys, I do not mental strength to play something more difficult than an interesting game of "Trying to get some well-deserved sleep" for now. I'm losing in this kind of game, too.

November 13th, 2012, 07:45 PM
Soooo
A sub "might" have been found for TC, a player is reviewing the turn and making up his mind about it, so i should ask
Are people truly interested about keep on playing this game? I ask because there hasn't been much activity around here (though we're on a pause) and mostly because I've been babysitting the timer every time in the last turns. More than a player almost got an stale, so unexepected extensions more than once. It's been a little tiring for me and so it shows I'm asking the interest question from a very personal point of view (while taking a wild interpretation at this situation). But still seems a valid question to me if we are to retake this game.

Vishniac
November 13th, 2012, 09:03 PM
I am in the game to the (my?) end.

If sometimes people stale, I'd say let them stale. If they don't have the will to win, the courage to fight and the commitment to get through anything, let those who have them fight for glory! After all, it takes only one minute to post here that you request a delay.

I think maybe I need to sub out on this one, I recently bit off I bit more than I can chew in terms of Dom3 games, and to be honest for the past few turns I haven't been the best sub for such a complicated late-game nation.

I can keep going, but if you guys want Marignon to be played to its full potenial, I think its best we find another sub. I gave it a good go, but I think its best this way. Thanks guys!

Well, the current sub for TC is still in process, so I'll wait before hunting for another sub. We will be on pause until Immac comes back.

Hi,

I'm the sub for Tien Chi, I've finally found the time to send in my turn.

Thanks Maliken!
We're on pause for a while, as Immaculate is away, and a sub for Marignon needs hunting. Will do that in the week.

Mm just noticed only one turn is missing, besides mine. I'll pm Keithz so maybe current one can host and we get some movement. Unless anybody wants to wait, but let me know if so.

As you may have noticed, subs for Marignon aren't showing up after two weeks. Last sub hunting took a pretty long time too. I really don't know if we can go on without a Marignon - he has two globals, one of them being Astral Corruption! and seems a decisive actor.
Also, Immac, I have noticed you are asking subs for your other games. What is your position regarding this one? Let me know so we can plan accordingly.
Honestly, we seem to be drifting away, but I've expressed my opinion in the past regarding so. Still, I'll do my best as long as there are players with interest on the game.

I figured this was dead in the water. But yeah- i need a sub after December 15th. If we can't find one i am totally cool accepting victory. :P

If you want me to i can advertise for a sub.

Still here. Still ready to fight.

If we can't find subs, let's turn them AI!

I've asked Immaculate to request a sub for his position. Turning Patala and Marignon AI and keep on playing the game, neither makes sense nor seems fun to me. I think we could live with just a Marignon AI, but adding Patala, given they together own all the globals and Patala is clearly the leading nation in many aspects, what would left of the game? Hours of AI dismantling and an eventual victory that doesn't seem satisfying. It would be even more fair to just declare Patala the winner, in case we end up in the double AI scenario.

Vish is hoping for this victory condition:

(or whoever is willing to go on with the late game grind)

Hey- maybe we still haven't found a sub for Patala by mid March, early April and i can pick it up again then???

Vish is hoping for this victory condition:

(or whoever is willing to go on with the late game grind)HA HA!
Yes, it's a perfectly valid one! :D
After all, whose side won at last: Hannibal's or Fabius Cunctator's?:p

I like also to see it as "Player's morale".
If an army still has 200 units on the battlefield but routs, the battle is lost.
If a player goes AWOL because he started to lose or lose interest, then that considers in my book as "The player is routed" :smirk: (understand: I broke his will)

Of course, that's not the case here, neither for Patala (who could crush me like a bug if he wants) or Marignon (hey: he just prevents us to use any gem!:envy:). So I'll let more experimented players the choice to call it a game or try to save it.

Whatever, it was my first game here and I learned a few tricks (and I crushed Caelum who doubled me with Patala.)

and you learned not to use so many stupid bows. (hopefully- you certainly didn't in our other game)

I've put Ossa in charge of Marignon.

Sorry for the stale!
I seemed to remember I had till 17:57 to send the turn but found it was 17:02 when I got home. Could have played in 10min but the computer jammed, and I received "Wrong turn sent".
Missed for a few seconds, damned!

Oh, no problem. I totally forgot about the timer, as I've been on travel these days.
Patala is set to AI as you may have noticed. So we have many hours of AI grinding ahead of us. I guess we keep on playing this then. Not a scenario that I particularly enjoy, but I've never bailed out of a game. All, remember to send your turns accordingly.

After the thrashing I received this turn, things are looking less rosy...:o
And this AI grinding ahead of me may well be the AI grinding me...:D (It has already begun)

I'd like a few more turns however, though not being able to forge or summon is crippling. Will the AI recognize Marignon as his main threat or will it attack indistinctly? That will be interesting times.

Well, you are the most active player in the thread, so I think your opinions certainly counts on evaluating this game.
I'm also curious about what the Patala AI will do. This is the most big AI I've met so far.

On a side note, I will probably set an extra long timer for the holidays, as I will be gone from 25 to 31 and that will give people plenty of time to play their turns.

Yea. SHould be fun. Patala was just starting to invade me. Immaculate would have crushed me. WIll be interesting to see if I can beat the odds against the AI.

Man's turn has been missing for a while, after several postponements. Keithz you still around?
Also Maliken, TC sub, has been reported missing in other games. Shall we hunt for yet another sub? I've lost count already.
Thoughts?

A sub for Tien Chi hasn't been found. Probably will have to set them AI.
Which has lead me to think, as admin of this game, I intend to close to game.
I won't do it immediately, I'm stating my desire to do so, given:
1 With TC gone AI, more than 50% of the provinces on the map are gonna AI. Even now, AI controlled provinces equals almost all the rest of nations combined.
2 Several times in the latest sub hunts, I've been told "I thought this game was dead already". I honestly think so.
3 I did not sign in this game for countless hours of AI grinding. I don't even see the purpose of winning the game in its current state.

If any of the players keeps wanting to go on win this game, please, I will give away admin of this game, and keep playing due to respect to the rest of the players (i.e. i will not continue as admin). If no one desires to take the position, I will make use of my position and do as intended. I did not create this game, and I've tried my best to keep it alive. I simply see no purpose in continuing doing so.

I won't drag this game if nobody plays anymore.
I'm already happy to stand at the end with 2 capitals; it is just my third MP game.
You can end it if you feel it won't go anywhere.

If not, take note that I won't have internet during the next 8 days, so delay the turn, please!

Lunaje: You went above and beyond to keep this game going. I'm comfortable ending it.

Ok then Matty and Vishniac, no one else showed up. I'm ending the game. Thanks for commenting on this, for those who stayed until the end and Ossa for last subbing. Hope to see you in other games, where we can finish our differences properly. Any final comments?
Despite all the problems, I learned a lot from here (not only regarding admin stuff). I like to think of this game as my final "just let's see what happens" game (this is my third one if I remember correctly). I'm far from good at the game now, but since this game I started to play in a more confident way; or at least, with a more clear picture of what I want to do with the nation I'm playing. And I really liked Midgard.
Good luck all,

Immaculate
