I've never summoned them before, but how do you decide between the Treant and the tree lord?

Treelords are spell casters, they can't move and have very few slots, whereas Treants are SCs.

Also, in CBM, treelords autosummon vine men/ogres, dryads and dark vines.

Ah, so if I'm on the offensive, I should go with Treants. I guess I won't get Treelords right now, but it is something to keep in mind for the future!

Treants also have a rooted (immobile) form that adds 1N to path, so if using for research or ritual casting, be sure to change shape.

Rooted form still has some tactical movement, so can be used as extremely slow super-high HP regenerating reinvigging SC in forests.
